Four or us went to see "Der Halle Wahninn" "Sheer Madness" at the Wintergarten Theatre. The show is set in a psychiatric hospital in post war Germany (Apparently ,in Germany, up until the 1970's, homosexuality was treated as a mental illness & many people were committed for indefinate periods of time). The show is very visual & you do not have to be able to speak German to follow the plot. It is a mix of acrobatics, dance & music. The show, when we were there in August, had several standing ovations, a testimony to the excellent show.
The theatre is beautiful , in the style of what you would imagine "old Berlin" to be. The seats are arranged around tables and you can enjoy drinks & a bite to eat whilst watching the show.
This was a great night out. GO!! - you will not be dissapointed

My partner and I had a terrific night at the Wintergarten. We booked for the show only and had extremely comfortable seats with a good view of the stage. Drinks service was swift and friendly so what more could you ask. The show was a classic mix (cliched even??) of over the top baudy ballads, burlesque, classic cabaret songs (a Liza medley no less) and spectaculat dancing. We loved it.

Several days ago we tried to purchase dinner show tickets to Breakin' Mozart online, but the website went to an error page after I hit submit payment. At that point we decided not to go as the seats we tried to buy (at the front of a table toward the front of the theater) showed as already purchased when we tried again. Since we did not receive an email confirmation, we assumed the purchase did not go through. Today, a half hour before the show, we happened to check our credit card statement online and noticed that the charge was on there. So I called the theater and they indicated we could not get a refund but that we could still come to the show and pick up the tickets at the ticket booth. The ticket booth helper said that it was not going to be a problem to get dinner even though we would be late.

So even though we were supposed to show up an hour early for the dinner package, we rushed there and were seated in our seats across from each other just a few minutes before the show started. When we sat down, one of the other guests at our table asked if we could switch seats to be side by side with our partners, as it was impossible to talk/hear across the table otherwise. We switched seats, and apparently this totally annoyed the server. She huffed for several minutes while moving our silverware and glasses, which we could have done ourselves had we known it was such a big issue. She brought us bread, soup and then a main course. She also brought us a bottle of water, but never asked us if we wanted anything else to drink. For some reason the main course was delivered about 5 minutes before the break and a few minutes later the server hovered over us and asked us if we were done twice, and said that she needed to bring the desserts during the break. Finally we gave her our plates even though we hadn't eaten about 1/2 of our dinner yet. During the break, the dessert plate, which was pretty large, came out. All the food was ok and I believe it came from the Lindner restaurant (according to the logo on the drink menu). After the show, we waited several minutes while our server stood around near the tables in the row in front of us. Finally I had to go ask her for our bill for our 7 euro water.

Based on the brochure we picked up at our hotel, I expected a show that was edgier and more fun. The show had some highlights, like the couple on the Chinese bars, the beatboxer, and the guy who juggled the diabolo, but most of the dancing (which is what I was most looking forward to) was boring and amateurish. The costumes were cheap looking and there was no diversity to the cast. I sort of felt like we were seeing a show from the 80s when break dancing was just becoming popular. There were very few modern moves and we've been way more inspired by watching ABDC (the amateur dance crew competition on American TV). In addition, elements from the storyline were just silly (the guys starting to fight when a girl walks in) and others were just thrown in for variety.

All in all, it was a disappointing experience that cost us US$235.

Interesting musical with some live performers! The soul music selection is very nice! DO NOT use the garderobe (place to store your jacket), you will have to wait more than 30 minutes to take your jacket back in end of show.
