Beautiful hotel, amazing room tastefully furnished, huge bed with fine linens, great bathroom, high-level bath products, outstanding service and cleanliness. Every day we found delicious fruits in the bedroom with a bottle of water, in addition to sweets. Before the last night thay put a box of chocolates in the room - most delicious chocolate. Breakfast was excellent, a choice of serial, fresh fruit, cheese, etc. I would like to take this opportunity to thank especially to the receptionists and all who gave us advicef or each question we asked. Again, thank you all !!!

Room Tip: Our room was on the 5th floor size of 40 m'

If you are travelling to Berlin and want somewhere nice to stay then look no further. We stayed here for 4 nights with breakfast and it was excellent. The staff are brilliant and demonstrate what customer service is all about, professional, polite and courteous and very helpful. Good sized well appointed rooms. This hotel is perfect for seeing the sights of Berlin.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front are quiet despite overlooking the street, they face east so don't get too hot...

We stayed in a suite for three nights and cannot think of anything negative to say about our stay other than it was expensive for a city that is relatively economical to visit. Breakfast is particularly expensive. But the room and service and food was all great.

We stayed here for four nights July 2014. The hotel is charming indeed. Mega helpful staff, it seems they really wanted to help you to feel okay here. (I mean really! Except of one employee of the hotel this was very obvious. The one exception must have had a hard day.)

The rooms were nice, they put in lots of cool products to use in the bathroom. All together it was really okay. The only thing is that we are in our 30s and the style of the hotel is maybe for those who enjoy elegance and a bit more conservative. I would say people more in their 50s or so. (Of course maybe I am a bit judgmental here :) )

The prices in the hotel is pretty steep. It is really a nice hotel, but the prices are really not in line with it, I mean I have been to hotels in this price range and they were an other category.

The important sights are in walking distance, or they are in 15 minutes by the metro. Everything is close. The only issue is that in the neighborhood we were not able to find a proper convenient store to buy water.

So, if you want to go to an elegant hotel, and you do not mind to spend a little bit more money go.

I stayed at the Regent for 5 nights. Nice room, big bathroom. the staff is outstanding friendly,
most of them knew my name, one feels at home immediately. Nicely located, a backyard!
and I agree: Breakfast is a bit too expensive, for someone like me who eats very little in the
morning. Yet they serve you coffee and a croissant in- or outside. Therefore I can not really
complain about anything. my special thanks go to Vanessa and Alexander.
I come back!

Such a good location, it was easy to get around from here. Lots of excellent restaurants and cafes within walking distance. Staff all spoke English really well. They bent over backwards to make sure our bed was comfortable (I asked for a bit of padding on the mattress as I found it hard). The concierge guys were all really helpful and spot on. There is a lovely garden courtyard with umbrellas. If you're not sure about where to stay in Berlin, do not hesitate, this hotel is great.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have great views of the area.

We stayed at the Regent Berlin for 5 nights…from July 22-27. Happily, we’d had requested in advance, and received, a room with a partial view of the picturesque Gendarmenmarkt town square, which is positioned cata-cornered from the hotel in the very next block.

The room was also literally directly across the street from the Galleries Lafayette department store which we could readily see from our 6th floor balcony.

The immediate area of the hotel, on either side – all within easy walking distance! – was also dotted with various eateries and “watering holes” to suit most people’s tastes and budgets. There was a “chocolatier” - featuring a fully functional chocolate “volcano” - that we visited as well.

Public transportation options were also plentiful…as there were a number of S or U-Bahn stations and/or bus stops with 5 minutes walk, the closest of which was a mere 150 yards away!

Regarding the VERY QUIET room itself - which was a good thing! LOL...first off, it was large (431 square feet or more) – particularly by European standards! - based on stats from a well-known website! We had a superior room with king bed versus a deluxe room. However, I believe that room size is the same for both, except that the deluxe rooms are on the upper levels? Specifically, we were on the 6th floor (room 624) of an 8 story hotel. So the difference – outside of price perhaps! – was barely negligible?

However, the bathroom was particularly impressive, with double doors – mirrors on the inner side! – opening up to a marble-laden interior. I mean everything was marble…ranging from the floors (including the shower stall), counter tops, walls and bathtub exterior sidings. While the toilet itself was its own inner sanctuary, privately separated from the main bathroom behind a secondary lockable door.

There were no coffee-making facilities in the room. However, bathrobes and slippers – a bit on the smaller side for men! – were supplied, as were the thicker, very large luxury towels (or bath sheets?) in lieu of your everyday, run-of-the-mill hotel bath towels.

Additional accolades go out to the housekeeping staff, which provided a number of nicely added touches, which aren’t normally accorded by the vast majority of hotel properties – in my own experience at least! LOL Specifically, in conjunction with the typical evening turndown service, the staff was very accommodating in tending to our special requests for an in-room humidifier, plus extra pillows and wash cloths. Fresh fruits and ice cubes – for the minibar ice bucket! – were also restocked on a daily basis. Particularly notable, though, was how they neatly rearranged various cosmetics owned by my GF, folded clothes – in certain instances– and even went so far as squeezing our own personal toothpaste tubes in order that the toothpaste was at the top rather than the bottom! Otherwise, following our 3rd night (of five) there, management also provided a box of sweets – chocolates and other confections – with an accompanying note as a “token of appreciation” for our stay there.

However, in order to render an absolutely fair and balanced review, I have to mention that there was, in fact, a persistent and very noticeable stale or possibly moisture-related smell in evidence immediately detectable upon entering the room. It was largely akin to what I’ve experienced with ocean front properties in the Caribbean during some of my previous travels.

The flip side, though, was that after we’d gotten the air conditioner fully up and running and/or left the balcony door slightly ajar – to allow in fresh air from outside – the odor largely dissipated; and didn’t detract from the overall quality of the accommodation, or our stay, outside of minor inconvenience.

Regarding the standard “Regent Breakfast”, which was included in our booking, it was undeniably VERY EXPENSIVE…costing out at a whopping 35 euros per person. It was served during normal “breakfast hours” from 6:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. daily in the hotel’s crystal chandelier adorned restaurant, and shifted to the adjoining bar from 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. We were also informed that there was an “early bird” breakfast option which extended from 5:00 a.m. – 6:30 a.m.? But understandably we decided to pass up on that one! LOL

In any event, for the edification of anyone who is entertaining the notion of partaking the pleasures of the Regent Breakfast…naturally, it starts with beverages (coffee, freshly squeezed juice, etc.) served in conjunction with cold cuts, several cheeses and jams/ jellies/ marmalades elegantly presented on a 3 tiered stainless steel or silver plated (I’m guessing?) server. Of course, there is also the obligatory basket of bread…and additionally, 2 other “stations”, one of which provided more bread (typically croissants), pastries, fresh fruit and yogurt; while the other was primarily focused on dry cereal offerings…in other words, your typical “continental” fare. For main courses, you were given options of “sweets” (Belgian waffles, blueberry pancakes or French toast); various custom ordered egg/ meat dishes (omelets, smoked salmon, bacon/ ham, eggs Benedict, etc.); and a couple of “special” dishes, including Bavarian white sausages and Swiss muesli.

Again, whether the 35 euros per person is justifiable is a matter of individual discretion? We did breakfast for all 5 days! But I would highly recommend checking out the “hotelscombined.com” website beforehand! I personally like this one because it features an array of lesser known web travel providers IN ADDITION TO the Expedia’s and Travelocity’s of the world. Reason being, sometimes the price differentials observed therein - for identical accommodations at many hotels - are significant enough to make breakfast inclusion a more affordable added bonus, if you’re able to discover a deeply discounted enough rate. Well, it’s worth a try anyway…for those who care about that sort of thing!

Other hotel features included a modernly equipped gym and spa room, with individual saunas for both men and women. And a comfortable indoor/ outdoor sitting area, directly adjacent to the main lobby, where guests could relax for an evening drink, engage in the daily “tea time” festivities or indulge in other culinary delights? LOL There was also a “business center” equipped with 2 desk top terminals for convenient internet access.

Finally winding down here…I can also offer readers several “administrative” tidbits of information – not specifically related to the hotel itself – in the event anyone finds it relevant…For those who still use cell phones to call the U.S. (or other countries) we realized much more value for our money by purchasing a SIM card from VODAFONE vs. alternative provider “O2” (more accurately “O” squared). Both are within 5 minutes walk from the hotel.

Furthermore, if one appreciates GOOD beer – I understand Germany is supposed to be well-known for this, although Berlin has a disappointing paucity of same! – try Meisterstuck (also within easy walking distance of the hotel) just across the Gendarmenmarkt square…which has a varied selection of specialty or craft brews. They also specialize in a wide variety of fire-grilled sausages, for those who have a hankering for this!

Newton Bar – just a few doors down from the Regent – on Charlottenstrasse, is the area’s liveliest spot for cocktails and purportedly one of the best bars in the city by some accounts.

And last but not least, for a good glass of wine (without having to invest in a whole bottle) try the basement of the Galleries Lafayette, right next to the hotel, particularly around normal “happy hour” business hours. In tandem with a generally convivial atmosphere itself, the venue features a nice upscale food market, and other munchies for purchase – to enjoy along with the wine! – in addition.

In summary, back to the Regent Berlin …we’d definitely stay there again upon return visit to the city!
