“Lovely hotel, beware AC description”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 October 2011

Had a lovely stay, staff all very attentive, and hotel very comfortable. Great location but a few words of warning. For our room AC meant "air cooling " not "air conditioning" - as it does in 99.9% of the world. This meant that even in October we had to sleep with no sheets or duvets as the room was so hot, and if you opened the window (3 inches max.) you got no cooling (as it automatically turned of the fan) but plenty of traffic and train noise in the morning, so you had no choice but to put up with a very noisy fan wafting warm air around the room. There was no tea or coffee making facilities, expensive wi-fi, and the hotel was not cheap - (house white - 9 euros for a glass (not large)). Small issues I grant but it is the small things that make the difference.

Room Tip: Make sure you have air conditioning not air cooling.

beautiful hotel, great location, attentive staff. however it was let down by a couple of things. firstly the room was very small, it was not possible to pass one another in the room, if you needed to one of us had to stand in the entrance to the room. secondly our bathroom was not the cleanest, i appreciate that other people had stayed there before us, however in a 5 star hotel i do not expect to see evidence of this, i can tell you the lady who stayed in there before us had long black hair.... i know this as it was all over the shower wall.

The Kempinski Hotel Bristom in Berlin is a fairly predictable hotel in the heart of a vibrant, fashionable part of Berlin.
The location is by far the best part of staying in this hotel. It is an inexpensive taxi ride from the airport, approximately 20 euros, and is within walking distance of the elevated train that will take you all over Berlin. The main avenue, Kurfurstendamm, has very nice shopping and several sidewalk cafes where it's fun to watch the people passing by.
The hotel itself is typical of a beautiful old European hotel with clean, small rooms and stuffy staff. The breakfast is good but overpriced, there are better options on Kurfurstendamm. The rooms are clean but small and the air conditioning in the rooms does not work well. If your room faces construction across the street and you open your window be aware that construction starts very early in the morning.
On future trips I will look for better options.

Room Tip: If air conditioning is important specify a room with airconditioning, some rooms have air circulatio...

The haotel is located very conveniently in the center of former "WEST" Berlin, directly on Kurfürstendamm (a very fashinable street) and a high reputaíon. It used to be the most prominent hotel until 10 15 years ago, but now needs renovation. The braekfats is very, very good. If possible try to get room in the "new" construction area. The old floors need renovation (i.re. still no flat TV´s,). Overall it still is a 5 star Hotel and the staff is very competent and helpful.

Room Tip: Rooms to the rear - more quite, try to rooms on higher level (less street noise) and in the renovate...

wasn't impressed to be honest, and i only usually want a bed in a clean room when i go away. very grand hotel, didn't use any of the facilities at all as so much to see and do in Berlin - found the staff a bit sniffy - i doubt their usual clientele is "the tattooed oik" in his hoodie and combats but i'm still a paying guest!!!
bed was comfy, room was clean although not as grand as front of house and i'm not pointing fingers unnecessarily but this was the only place i used a credit card (as the room deposit) that got cloned!!! sours my view of this place - on the upside the hotel is in a very nice location, cracking bierkellar / restaurant up the road a bit and lots of transport links and high end shopping just around the corner.

First time to Berlin taxi was unable to find the hotel i eventually spotted the hote after the taxi stopped the clock. The hotel was very nice good rooms and a great location, shops near by the Hop 0nbus just across the road and avery nice French restaurant nearby called Belmondo near the hotel check with the concierge. We really Berlin lots to see and do.

Room Tip: UPgrade from the basic room as some areold.

It was a nice sentimental coming back three years after the first time for few days starting on Septemebr 12th; room at the old part of Hotel was renovated at a modern high standard level. All Hotel parts - reception, lobby, bar, restaurants, shops etc.create an ecellent tastly mixture of modern & classic styles so nothing has been disappeared and lost from old times as you can observe at many hotel renovations all over Europe where such works are made at a very primitive way without taste and proportion. Service at all sectors - lobby, reception, room, breakfest - are excellent therefore you can feel comfortably during a whole stay & time since Mrs.Birgitt Ullerich, GM cares about visitors being deeply engaged at daily supervision of her staff and Hotel operation. The opinion about a delight restaurant and food of Hotel restaurant GRILL is exposed at another part of TripAdvisor part Restaurant .To recapitualte we're dreaming to come back in order to spend another time at KEMPINSKI BRISTOL soon.
