We stayed here for three nights at the end of April. A Standard room had been booked for us but we upgraded to a Premium room at a very decent price (Standard a bit small). The lesson here is that you get what you pay for and, like most 'international standard' hotels, there will be big rooms, little rooms and in-between rooms. Get whatever suits you and, if you're going to be out all day and most of the evening, why bother with 'big'. The staff was excellent - helpful, informative and friendly. The location is ideal if you want to be in a fairly quiet location but still with easy access to the city centre and to more relaxed environments - well served by U bahn and S bahn. I have a weakness for Spandau and it's easy to get there and into more leafy country (and the river and Tiergarten isn't too far away either). I have no weakness at all for over-scented designer shops but, if that's your thing, Kufurstendamm is on your doorstep. Stroll up to Savigny Platz for hosts of restaurants and keep an eye out all over Charlottenberg for little cafes which are more interesting and better value than some of the, again, 'designer' eateries. The Bristol is no longer the old Kempinsky but, to my mind, better for it. The space and the facilities of the public areas are still there - coupled with really good value rooms. OK, views are limited but, again, as a comfortable and welcoming base to venture out from for the day I was happy.
