“Elegant and luxury”

I spent two nights in the hotel, which can find at the city center, next to Brandenburg Gate. The Reichstag and Unter den Linden is few steps from te hotel. Te Museum-Ireland and TV-tower is not far away from the hotel.
The room is large, comfortable, and there are nice furnitures.
We spent few hours in the spa. It was relaxing and clean.

What a great hotel.....European elegance in a great location. Brandenburg Gate right outside the entrance to the hotel. Museum of Terror also right outside. We stayed four nights. Loved the beds with individual duvet covers, bathroom was lovely, separate tub and shower. Wonderful buffet breakfast with so many different jams and jellies that I took a picture of them all on one table. staff was amazing and helpful. By the way they were running the marathon the day after we checked in, and many of the people staying at the hotel ran the race. If your running in the marathon in Berlin the finish line is right outside the front of the hotel by the gate.

An amazing luxurious hotel located on the heart of Berlin's historic city. Our room is all rich wood with ample space. We have been on the road for 2 weeks, and this is the last hotel before returning stateside. Great way to end our trip in the lap of luxury, yet priced very reasonably. Be careful ordering room service, which can be more expensive than room rate!

Breakfast not included with room rate and very pricey also. Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts close by. Very friendly staff willing to meet your every need.

Room Tip: We were upgraded to a deluxe room and it is very sweet.

What a wonderful hotel and so perfectly located. You will be made to feel special from the moment you arrive. The location is a great starting point for visiting the Museum Island or the Reichstag or any other part of this marvelous city. I recommend the regular breakfast over the continental breakfast--a truly wonderful buffet awaits. My only gripe is that the mattress could be improved. It was firm enough, but not quite as comfortable as those in other Kempinski hotels. Look for the free Tuesday afternoon concerts at the Berlin Philharmonie and don't miss the Holocaust memorial which is incredibly moving in a very beautiful way--2 blocks from the hotel. Also Margaux restaurant across the street.

I stayed at the Adlon for the Berlin Marathon in September 2012. It was the natural choice as it is right next to the Brandenburg Gate (just where the marathon starts/ends). Having run 3 marathons before, I know how crucial it is to stay within steps of the finish line!!

Position of this hotel is therefore perfect for this marathon. It is literally steps away from the race and makes for a convenient start and comfortable end/recovery! Yet the hotel isn't just convenient for the race as I discovered. It's really central for the whole city being slap bang in the middle of the city, next to the Tiergarten and also close to the U and S bahn stations (very convenient for getting to the Marathon expo/Vital to pick up your big/chip!) and is even close to the points on the river where the boat trips depart (strongly recommended). On the way there you can stop by the best currywurst hole in the wall (ask the concierge) for some excellent local fare...

To be honest, as some other reviewers have commented, this hotel isn't a stunner in terms of looks and amenities. It is 5 stars but has a business like feel to it all the way from the lobby, to your room and the spa/gym. This is no criticism as the refurbished room that I stayed in was really perfectly laid out and comfortable (separate shower, bathroom, toilet and even walk in wardrobe). But the feel of this hotel is more function than form.. certainly not ideal for a romantic stay.

Apart from the location, the service in this hotel really shone! For marathon morning, the wake up call from a cheerful (non recorded) voice was exactly on time and complimentary coffee was also on time. The same friendly lady served my breakfast at the requested minute and started my day perfectly for the race - thank you Miss Nguyen - I know you just joined the hotel and you are an asset! My only minor criticisms was the young lady at check in who showed me my room and it's amenities - she wasn't thorough and didn't show many things in the room such as the electric blinds nor the audio visual system, etc. Also, my wake up call one morning was late by 15 minutes but they apologized profusely for this (thank goodness it wasn't race day!).

So all in all, this is a very good hotel primarily due to location and service. And if you run the marathon, this is THE place to prepare beforehand, and rest afterwards!!

Room Tip: If you want peace & quiet, stay in a room facing a central courtyard - the ones in the new wing...

what a lovely hotel! Fabulously decorated lobby and rooms that push the mark up....way up! No detail was left to chance. The rooms were well appointed and luxurious. The only less than perfect part was the rain shower, which leaked all over the floor. Simply a matter of the threshold being a bit shallow. Otherwise, amazing. Especially the view of the Brandenburg Gate from our window !!!!!!

Room Tip: ask for a room with a view of the Brandenburg Gate
