We stayed for 6 nights in February this year. Got a very reasonable rate by phoning the hotel directly and ended up in two interconnecting rooms on the top floor looking onto Unter den Linden.

Right from arrival, we felt we were in good hands. The doormen and valet parking guys were very courteous and efficient. We were offered sparkling wine whilst checking in and were quickly into our rooms. The rooms themselves were very comfortable and well equipped. Very nice bathroom and huge TV. There were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room, however, they brought them when I asked for them (excellent Ronnefeldt tea and a silver teapot). They did not charge for this at all.

The room was very promptly cleaned each morning and there was a very good turn down service. Many hotels seem to be cutting back on things like this but not here.

We did not have breakfast as it was not included in the rate and I could not see how €44 per head could possibly be worth it. There is a Starbucks and another baker opposite for a basic snack but 3 or 4 minutes walk along Unter den Linden there is a restaurant called "Dressler" which has various different breakfast formulas and is very highly recommended.

Others have already commented on the location and we walked almost everywhere. It's the only hotel next to the Brandenburg Gate and that makes it rather special.

The lobby bar was very busy and sort of lacked the wow factor so obvious in the rest of the hotel, however, the service was again very good. The pool area is in the basement and felt a bit cramped but was good for relaxation. However, these are small things, it's a great hotel.

This is a very long overdue review. Hubby and I stayed here several years ago and had the time of our lives. Beautiful, well-appointed hotel with every amenity you could want. The proximity to the Gate was breathtaking. Beds very comfy and the video about the history of the hotel made us laugh. Watched it over and over and over again. Traveled with a friend who purchased the vid and we still break it out from time to time over a few glasses of wine to laugh at! Kidding aside, we loved this hotel and dream of going back!

We visited Berlin for attending an international meeting. We reserved a double room with king size bed. At the moment of checkin, the receptionist happily informed us we are upgraded to a deluxe room. The room was for sure pretty luxury, but surprisingly there was only a tiny bed with one pillow (nothing like a bed in 5 star hotel). After talking to the receptionist, they offered us a room with king size bed but a lot less luxury. Again, we talked to the same receptionist, finally they wanted us to choose either the first room with tiny bed or the second room with less comfort.

I thought I was getting a room with king size bed (as reserved) in the same level of luxury, but in the end they let their customers choose between two suboptimal solutions.

Finally we were waiting for an another pillow (yes we have chosen the smaller bed).

Other disappointing facts compared to other 5 star hotels we have stayed in:
-There is no coffee and tea facility in the room.
-Be prepared to be stopped quite strictly by the guards before heading back to your room.
-Based on our experience you're treated nicer in many other hotels.

I thought Adlon Kempinski was the best hotel in Berlin. It is definitely a nice hotel and we expected that even small things would make the difference, but in this hotel the small things created our disappointment.

Having tried to find some reasons not to give the Adlon five stars, I must admit that I failed. The location next to Brandenburg Gate can't be beat, the staff are true professionals and the rooms tastefully furnished, very quiet and comfortable. In short, a real treat and worth the price. Don't expect Brandenburg Gate views froom the lower priced rooms, however. The only thing missing from the rooms is a coffee maker/kettle - a cup of coffee via room service is €11 and there's also the option to rent a Nespresso machine for €15/day (capsules included).

Where I came closest in my quest to nitpick was during breakfast because it's not a good value. For the prices charged, I expect everything to be a step above the rest. That was the case with the room but not the breakfast. €42 for stale baked goods (rolls, baguette, etc.), hard & flavorless pineapple and uninspired omelets - that is done better by every other country Inn in Germany. Yet other breakfast items were done well, such as the nut and honey cereal. Much appreciated also the willingness of the wait staff to accommodate special requests.

We wanted to stay somewhere special and centrally located for our 35th wedding anniversary weekend in Berlin and chose the Adlon Kempinski, on Unter den Linden, which met all our hopes and expectations.

It was very easy to reach from Tegel airport by hopping on the express bus, which delivered us less than 100 yards from the hotel. The return was similarly convenient.

The reception desk, on a late Friday morning was busy, but there were enough staff to deal with everyone without too much delay. Maia told us our room was not ready, so we took some things out of our cases and by the time we had returned 10 minutes later to drop them off, she said that she had just had notification that the room was ready and sent another of the reception staff to take us up. The room was large and well air conditioned and looked out over the side street, so it was very quiet, helped by doors between the small lobby area and the bedroom. There were electronically controlled blinds which helped to keep the sun out on an exceptionally hot and humid weekend.

The bathroom was also large and very well maintained, with bath and two washbasins and a lot of black marble, with one glass door leading off to a separate lavatory and a second to a spacious shower cubicle.

Before setting off on our sightseeing, we spoke to the concierge to obtain dinner recommendations for that night and the next and he not only booked them, but also by the time we returned to the room later that day, we had a letter confirming each of the bookings. We were very happy with both the restaurants and they were exactly what we had asked for in terms of distance from the hotel and type of food.

At the end of a hot, sticky day, a beer in the hotel bar next to the wonderful lobby and fountain, was served promptly and deliciously cold, with enough nuts and snacks to satisfy us until dinner.

The breakfast areas are extensive and we could have chosen a table outside for a view of the Brandenburg Gate, which is only a few yards away, but we opted for the inside and the air conditioning. The buffet was so comprehensive that we didn't look at the menu, with special features like fresh honeycomb by the jam section and caviar and champagne also available. A nice touch is the staff member dressed a little like an old 'cigarette girl' who walked around with a basket of warm bread and pastries. The service was impeccable and nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

Altogether, a very happy choice and although we may not go back to Berlin, we will certainly look out for other Kempinski hotels and I have already started recommending this one to friends.

I was lucky enough to stay here for 24 hours whilst attending a clinical trials meeting. It is not a particularly exciting building from the outside, but inside is like stepping back in time. Beautiful to look at and extraordinarily helpful staff. At the time I arrived, afternoon tea was being served in the atrium, clearly delighting the septuagenarians indulging in it. Check-in was smooth- always nice to be offered champagne whilst in a 20 second queue!
The room was fantastic. Good size, nice layout, well stocked bar and goodies shelf and a decent TV. There is free wifi available (speed somewhat slow but OK for business- you need to pay to access high speed wifi). It is bit British, but my only gripe was the lack of tea/coffee making facilities. A drawer in the bedside cabinet contains light switches- simple but brilliant. Good bathroom with a decent size bath and an excellent shower.
Breakfast was exceptional- without doubt the best choice I have seen in years- not often that you see caviar at the breakfast table. Honey on the comb, food cooked to order, something to indulge all tastes. All very satisfying.
The location is what tops it off. Right by the Brandenburg gate- we were lucky enough to catch the USA-Belgium game at the fanpark. For those wanting to get into and explore Berlin, you couldn't be better placed.
Overall, an awesome experience. A great hotel.

The hotel looks amazing, and you feel very special when entering the building. The staff is very nice and helpful. The rooms are beautiful and classic. We managed to get the street view.. it was just great!! When we received our car from the valet parking, there was 2 water bottles and hand cleaning tissues, something that shows their attention to detail.
