“Great place for people watching and bier!”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

Gendarmenmarkt can best be described in pictures as I've posted here. Surrounded by outdoor cafes and shops, we found ourselves there nearly everyday of our Berlin visit. Enjoy!

“Beautiful square”
Reviewed 31 May 2014

We were at the Hilton across the street. The square is large and a beautiful site. The Deutscher Dom is just a building facade, the inside has not been restored. We would have loved to get into the Konzerthaus, but it was only open for performances. The last building is the Friedrichstadtkirche (French Cathedral). The whole area is surrounded by numerous restaurants and cafes.

“A wonderfully restored Marketplace”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

This area of Berlin is wonderfully restored .The large space of the Square is dotted with cafes and contains three of Berlins most marvellous buildings . It is also a great place to pick up a city bus tour and a useful base to access Museum Island , St Hedwig's Cathedral and Humboldt University.

“Lovely square”
Reviewed 9 May 2014

The square is really great with so many historic places all around. There are a few cafes around to sit back, relax and enjoy the views. Would definitely recommend a visit.

“The peace was the most exquisite music”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

When we visited this square, this place was very peaceful. Nothing like, say, Covent Garden in London, which would be the most equivalent, since it is a square that is surrounded by musical venues. There is a lot of grandiosity here. Worth enjoying the atmosphere.
