If you love cozy places with a feeling of history, this will have a fresh air here, only one turn after crowded Alexanderplatz. There are some amazingly small cafés, where you could feel homey. And It's not so extremely expensive. There are usually some live street music, which will bring you somewhere else, because after leaving Nicholas Quarter and entering busiest streets, You won't believe this is the same city.

A MUST see place! (Especially for romantics)

The DDR did a great job on this. Church is worth seeing but they also did a fab job on restoring the old Zum Nussbaum pub which was a classic old Berlin pub destroyed in a 1943 air raid and then rebuilt to original plans here by DDR authorities in 1980's. Great place to get chatting to people though beer only average

You'd walk through this area in minutes but it's nice all the same.

We found this by accident when visiting Zur gerichtslaube restaurant and ended up in this area to eat again the next day. Its so lovely and quaint, yet contained our favourite restaurant of the trip. There are lots of little shops, and the church, this really is worth a visit. A real hidden gem, and some places are right on the water too.

Beyond an impressive church and a statue there was very little to see here. It would not have been recognisable as a medieval quarter without the signposting. Walking along the river nearby was enjoyable but I was glad we only went into the Nicholas Quarter while passing rather than making a special effort.

One of the nicest parts of Berlin, you would never have thought you were in the middle of a big city and couldn't believe it was reconstructed during the communist era!
