“Good hotel, excellent location”
Reviewed 28 September 2011

I was in Berlin for a few nights to watch my son run the marathon. As I'd been to Berlin a few times before, I knew how good the underground system was, so chose this hotel for it's closeness to a U station.

The hotel is easy to get to from Schoenefeld airport by U system. Hotel is 50 meters from Birkenstrasse station. Very convenient to use the U system to get to all of Berlin's sites. 1 and 2 day passes are very reasonable priced.

The hotel is a bit confusing on arrival, as there is only a lift at the entrance. Take the lift to reception on the second floor. Fast and efficient check in. Helpful and polite staff who spoke excellent english. For security, the key card allows access to your corridor, as well as your room.

Room - reasonable size for a city - twin beds. Modern styling. I was on the inside of the hotel, facing the large central courtyard, which was incredably quiet. An electronic blind system cuts out all of the light. Very comfy bed, with a good quality quilt - slept very well. Plenty of sockets for charging. Good size flat screen TV. Fridge/minibar. 2 bottles of free water. Good strength wifi. Very clean and well maintained, as you would expect of a new hotel. Efficient maid service.

Bathroom. Normal city size. Large shower. Again, very modern styling and very clean. Powerful hairdryer.

Excellent breakfast. Good selection - meat, cheese, fruit, juices, bread, pastries plus scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages etc. Nice coffee. We did not eat here in the evening.

Plenty of small bars and restaurants nearby. Also a few small shopsnearby for supplies.

This is a good hotel in a very convenient location. Could not fault it. Recommended.

Room Tip: Use the U system as much as possible.

I booked this hotel for a citybreak in early September, and it was a really good deal considering this is a 4-star hotel. The location is excellent, being extremely close to Birkenstrasse U-Bahn station which takes you to Zoologischer Garten S- and U-Bahn stations in about 10 minutes. In addition, the hotel is above a really big Edeka supermarket that sells everything that you'd might like to buy to make your visit more comfortable.

The room is modern, clean and well decorated, and the bathroom is new and comfortable as well. The room has a mini fridge containing a few minibar items, but you can easily go down to the supermarket and maybe buy a few drinks, milk or yoghurt and store them in the fridge as well, to save some money. In addition, our room had free wireless internet which was very easy to connect to, and was a very fast speed.

We arrived by Tegel airport and it was very easy to reach this hotel via bus 109 to Zoologischer Garten and then taking the U9 U-Bahn to Birkenstrasse. In addition you can take X9 to Zoologischer Garten S- and U-Bahn or TXL to Alexanderplatz S- and U-Bahn.

The staff were very polite, friendly and helpful and the lobby is also a lovely sight. We didn't go to the restaurant, but the staff there were friendly as well.

Overall, a great hotel, and I really recommend this as a base for your visit to Berlin.

Room Tip: Ask for a quieter room and they will probably allocate you a room facing the courtyard, which indeed...

This is a newly refurnished hotel with lovely interior designed rooms, great atrium reception and services available. Neatly clean and comfortable rooms and staff very professional. What is confusing about the hotel is the access to it. It stands next to a mall (next to a big store supermarket). The reception is not on the ground floor but the second floor. But once inside, everything is nice. The location is not that great but it is 2 minutes from the metro station. In few minutes you can reach any point of berlin mitte. For a short trip or longer trip is worthy to try and you have free wireless connection. I didn't try the breakfast but i heard it was good.

Room Tip: try to get room with breakfast included.

We visited Berlin for my brother in laws 50th birthday and stayed for 3 nights. After reading reviews we were worried about the location of the hotel but it was not a problem. The subway is literally on the door step, trams arrive every few minutes and the hotel is only a few stops away from the major attractions. Although there is little night life near the hotel there are a few bars (particularly good is the Arena) where we finished our days with a night cap. Our rooms were excellent, spacious, well decorated, great wet rooms and most important fantastic beds. Hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast is a little expensive (£13) and limited if you like a cooked breakfast but there is plenty otherwise on offer to keep you going well into the afternoon. Highlights of the trip were the open top bus tour (excellent value for money), 'Topography of terror' (a free museum) and the Berlin walks 'Buildings of the Third Reich' (Finn you are a great guide and made the walk educational and entertaining). Checkpoint Charlie and Jewish museum a little disappointing. Would advise to visit the Holocaust memorial rather than Jewish museum. Overall a very interesting and moving weekend.

I stayed for a week for a sightseeing trip to Berlin. The hotel is not really in the city centre, but just 100m away from the subway station "Birkenstrasse" and therefore within easy reach of anywhere in Berlin you want to go. Berlin´s public transport system is one of the best I have ever experienced anywhere.

The hotel has been open for about 1 year and is brand new. The rooms are very comfortable and very clean. Breakfast it great and all staff is very friendly.

The hotel is adjacent to a small shopping mall with a large supermarket so you can get snacks, drinks, etc if you don´t want to eat out all the time. The hotel has a nice restaurant though and there are a couple of bars and take-out places nearby.

Can´t wait to return to this great hotel!

My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights while visiting family in Berlin. It is a new hotel and we were given a room that faced outdoors. Additionally, there are rooms that face the inner courtyard of the hotel, but based on what previous reviewers have said, I would make sure to request a room facing outside. The courtyard is not air conditioned and it gets warm in the summer, so you wouldn't be able to open your room to the courtyard (also due to lack of privacy) and one might feel claustrophobic. In our room, we didn't hear any noise from the street with the windows closer. We could open the window to the outside, which was nice. The beds were comfortable and there was coffee and tea provided in the room. The hotel was perfect for us because our family members would pick us up each day and bring us sightseeing. You are an easy 5-10 minute walk from the train station, but if I were traveling solo I would prefer to be closer to the Sony Center, or another more central area of Berlin. There is a grocery store next to the hotel, which I found convenient. It was clean and there was a nice bakery inside with inexpensive coffee. There is a fridge in the room so I would pick up juice and snacks for breakfast and put them in the fridge. This saved us money. Sometimes housekeeping would not pick up a dirty glass, or replenish a towel, but this was a minor inconvenience. Overall good value for the money and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

The BW Moa hotel in Berlin is a very new, very stilish hotel with an excellent price-value ratio.
Close to a underground station you within 6 minutes at the "Kurfuerstendamm" and the "KDW" (a very good and wellknown store-house).
Also look for the restaurant, there you will find some fresh food for a reasonable rate.
