“Very helpful staff helped overcome problems.”
Reviewed 17 August 2013

I'm really of two minds about this place - but a lot of the negative side was due to the weather. It was torridly hot in Berlin when we arrived (touching 100F). Thankfully, the location was close to the train station so we weren't lugging our bags too far. However, we DID have to go up several flights of stairs to get to the lobby.

We were disappointed at the fact that there was no air conditioning (which we later discovered was 'normal') but the windows opened and the staff was EXTREMELY helpful in getting a fan for the room. We were a little worried in that there were no screens on the windows (but, again, we learned this would be normal as we continued across Germany) but there were no problems with insects or anything else flying into the room.

The breakfast was good and the staff was always helpful. My wife and I couldn't help thinking that this would be the PERFECT place to stay if it wasn't for the weather.

As another reviewer said - the after-hours "entry procedure" *is* a bit odd - it involves a strange skeleton key that you use to unlock one lock, then push it through the lock, retrieve it on the other side of the door and lock that door with it before it's released to you. It's different but it always worked - no problems there.

All in all it was a pretty good place to stay. The location is fantastic - close to the regional train station and the subway, but less than half a block from Kufurstedamm so you can easily catch a taxi if you need one. Oh - and if you're into those hop-on, hop-off tour buses, one of them starts right there on K'dam so there's more convenience.

Room Tip: If it's mid-summer, make a note in your reservation to reserve a fan.

Great location just off Kudamm. U-bahn and buses within minutes. Friendly and service minded staff. Big spacious rooms. Acceptable breakfast. If you arrive by car parking is on the street subject to availability. Good value for money.

On my third visit to Berlin, I stayed at this pleasant hotel in the west of the city. It's in a convenient location, just off the K'damm, and is easy to get about the city from. The room was a good size, very clean and quiet. Breakfast was the usual German buffet. The key system for getting into the building at night was a bit odd, but it worked fine. The Italian restaurant next door was really good too!

This place is very good, the staff is friendly and the positions is ideal to visit Berlin. (near Kurfurstendamm and well served by public transportation)
Because of the moquette the room is dusty even if the staff cleans every day. The breakfast is very rich

The charming atmosphere of this old bourgeois apartment is stunning, especially the entrance/staircase. Large and cosy rooms. Very friendly and efficient staff. Free wifi.

Fantastic location in atmospheric Fasanenstrasse, a quiet oasis next to hectic and noisy Ku'damm.

Comfort is a little basic (I suggest to bring your own soap) but outbalanced by the charm. Breakfast small selection but good quality and served in very charming breakfast room with attentive service.

This was a great choice. The rooms were spacious and luxurious. The included breakfast was delicious. The staff was friendly and efficient. The hotel is located in an upscale shopping district and yet was reasonably priced. It was within easy walking distance to the zoo (which is worth seeing) and the metro station so the whole city is at your finger tips. Also, free wifi!

Room Tip: They have both with or without bathroom in suite. We paid the extra for a full bathroom and it was v...

This is a classical Berlin pension and a really nice way to stay in Berlin instead of staying in one of those impersonal luxury hotels. It is very well situated if you want to stay in West Berlin. There are plenty of nice restaurants in this area, the classical Literaturhaus is just on the opposite side from the hotel and wonderful Savigny platz is close. The room was on the small side, but was newly renovated and very comfortable, nice bathroom and had everything that we needed. The personnel also went the extra mile and when we arrived they had already set up a baby cot, covered the electricity outlets and put in some toys as well! Breakfast was nice and there was also a table on the balcony with view towards the Literaturhaus garden. The only downside when travelling with young children is that there is no elevator (the hotel is on the first floor, 2 stairs up). There are several children´s playgrounds nearby and the Zoo is also walking distance (10 min).
