“Quiet residential area”
Reviewed 23 January 2013

Stayed for 2 nights with my husband & teenage son. Quiet residential area. Easy walk from 2 metro stations. Good size room. Small fee for WiFi. Breakfast was good. Helpful staff re transport etc. Purchased tickets for hop off, hop on bus. They recommended a good local German restaurant. Taxi to main train station about 11 euros. Would stay again

Firstly I'll get the gripes out of the way of our three night stay.
First morning breakfast was fine, bacon, eggs, sausauge plenty of bread selection and usual cold selection. Second morning no bacon or sausage just eggs freshly scrambled, but the same white bread (for toast) now going hard and stale Third morning only only 3 bread rolls no white bread, but the same brown batch loaf that was there on morning one. Scrambled eggs again and all the other stuff; but it was cold in the breakfast room because the radiator was switched off.
There are no tea/coffee making facilities in your room - big groan here.

On the plus side we were given a large room upgrade for free, and although basic it was very comfy. Only had bbc world news on the TV but I'd loaded a lot of films onto my tablet. Wi Fi is available at a small cost - but the password can be loaded only once. So if you want it on a couple on mobile phones and other devices you'll need more passwords. We were given extra passwords at no additional charge. The wifi was for the floor we were on so it may not have worked anywhere else.

Hosts and staff were really good and helpful, the room was tidied every day day and nothing was too much trouble. You can book trips etc at reception. It was nicely located within short walking distance of the city centre, local restaurants, subway etc.

Berlin is a very big city with a lot see and do, three days here was just about long enough to see the main tourist stuff, but there is loads more to discover beyond that. We found people freindly and helpful around the city and had a great time here. Shame is was so cold, -10 on one evening without the wind chill!

Overall this is a good city centre hotel for the money and worthy of consideration.

This was my second stay at Arco Hotel and I enjoyed the visit. The owners made me feel welcome and not only that ... they extended themselves to help a traveler with laundry arrangements (though they don't offer service themselves at hotel), restaurant pointing (Saigon and More across the street was Great) ... oh! and the room was comfortable and restful. Breakfast was served in a bright space which being the holidays had a nice Christmas tree. Coffee was Delicious and Fresh. Personally I also like the cool glass-walled elevator that takes you up to your floor. As to the hotel itself ... it is old but quite charming. The owners are in processes which continually upgrade it to make it feel modern, but there is a bit of old-world charm in the old staircase and the moldings around doorways which appear here and there. For myself, the Location is a pleasure as it is a quick walk to the KaDeWe (one of my favourite shopping stores on the planet) ... and also a comfortable hike to the Nollendorfplatz area. There is an easy to reach metro at Wittenbergplatz near the KaDeWe. The Arco Hotel is on a nice quiet pretty street, but you are minutes walking to some hustle and bustle. Thumbs up and Thanks for a lovely stay. See you next time. :) P.S. The owners have some very sweet dogs which though they stay out of public areas majority of the time, for myself when I did see them being taken out for walks, it was a big bonus.

Room Tip: My room was quiet and peaceful.

We have stayed there 3 times now and as ever we were looked after well, the rooms are spacious and very clean, breakfast is extremely good (bacon and eggs as well!!) Its ideally situated with a short walk to KaDeWe and other city centre locations. Would recommend it to anyone. If you have a car, they offer parking badges at 3.00 Eu a day.

Room Tip: Go online, the offers are good value

We were in berlin for four nights and we enjoyed every minute of it. The city was amazing. Arco hotel was pretty decent and we are happy with our choice in the hotel. Breakfast was included with our price and the food was good. Staffs were helpful. We won’t think twice going back to Arco or berlin.

We have been staying at the Arco in Berlin for almost 15 years on & off now.
It has changed little over the years, which is meant as a compliment rather than a derogatory comment. It has real old Berlin charm & it makes a lovely change from faceless corporate hotels.
I'd thoroughly recommend it, if you need a good, clean, reliable hotel in West Berlin. Near to Ka de We & Wittenburgplatz station.
Also not far from most gay bars, but don't let put you off as it is VERY quiet & you won't be accosted by predatory gay men!!

Room Tip: Ask for a larger room, it's worth the extra!

We had the pleasure of staying at the Arco Hotel in Berlin for one week in the middle of September 2012. We couldn’t have been happier with our experience while there.

The hotel and the room itself was spotlessly clean throughout. Our room was cleaned daily and the bed made, but towels were only replaced about every three days or so. The mattresses on our beds were enclosed in soft plastic covers of some kind, which is an excellent sanitary measure.

The Arco was excellent value for money: for a very reasonable rate we were lucky enough to get a very spacious double room in the corner of the top floor. It may be more accurate to say the size of the room boarded on a small suite, as it had a seating area with chairs, a coffee table and a good-sized couch that converted into two more beds. A desk, lamp, TV, clock radio and direct-dial phone were also provided in the room, as well as a wardrobe big enough for two guests. There was also a safe in the room for storage of valuables. The bathroom had been recently renovated and was very modern. Lots of hot water and water pressure. Hair dryer and shaving mirror provided. Wi-Fi is available but it’s not free: we paid €5.00 each for the duration of our one-week stay. The Wi-Fi signal was strong enough but every time we powered on our devices we had to log back into the Internet – a minor inconvenience, but this may be an intended security measure on the part of the wireless service provider the hotel uses (“Hotsplots”). If you need your laundry cleaned during your stay, the hotel has a daily service, arranged through Reception.

There is a lift to the upper floors (all-glass elevator), which is very helpful when you have a lot of luggage. The hotel seemed very safe - guests are provided a key which opens the front door as well as your room; any guests without a key must be buzzed in by the hotel staff. There is a comfortable lounge with chairs and newspapers, and a computer equipped with high-speed Internet and printer. The dining room (with newspapers supplied) opens to a beautiful leafy and quiet courtyard where there are several dining tables. Weather permitting, you can enjoy your breakfast in the peaceful courtyard. If you have a hearty appetite in the morning, the breakfast at the Arco is definitely the place to be. Every morning during our stay there was a plentiful and varied selection of food including: juices, coffee, tea, cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit, sliced cheeses, bacon, sausage, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, platters of sliced meats, fish, different types of multi-grain and whole wheat breads, jams and various spreads. All delicious.

The general quiet of this hotel is amazing and we did not hear our neighbours at all. In general, it’s so peaceful in both the surrounding Schöneberg area and the hotel itself that you would not believe you are staying in a large urban centre. The hotel is on a quiet, green and leafy street; very calming to return to at the end of each day. We slept soundly with the windows wide open every night and experienced very little noise. The hotel is surrounded by many convenient amenities: there is a “Lotto” corner store about two minutes down the street, the incredible “Saigon and More” restaurant further down Geisbergstrasse, and the Viktoria-Luise-Platz and Nollendorfplatz U-Bahn stations are each a few minutes walk away.

Every staff member here was fantastic during our stay; friendly and helpful. We were given a very warm welcome upon initial arrival and every subsequent return to the hotel at a day’s end. Staff cheerfully assisted with any sightseeing plans or questions, and later efficiently arranged our airport taxi on departure day. Staff are completely fluent in English (some are trilingual) so if you are unilingual with nearly non-existent German skills (like me), you will have no problem communicating at the hotel.

In my opinion this hotel is truly a gem, and it made our fantastic trip to Berlin that much more enjoyable. If you’re like us and don’t care for the big chain hotels but just want a place that’s safe, clean, quiet, friendly, centrally-located and affordable, I highly recommend the Arco Hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the inner courtyard are extremely quiet.
