“A good stay”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

We stayed in the hotel side of this hotel. Our room was tiny, but it was clean. The bed wasn't the most comfortable thing I've ever slept in, but this isn't the Ritz. For the bargain we paid we had a safe, clean room to sleep in with free wifi and a parking lot. If that's what you are looking for, than this is the hotel for you. If you are looking for luxury accommodations, then expect to pay a whole lot more and go someplace else. Also, this hotel is about a block and a half from the U-bahn which was quite convenient. It wasn't more that 10 minutes into Alexanderplatz from here. Lastly, I would recommend eating breakfast at Aunt Benny's. It is a couple of blocks away and absolutely delicious!

The subway rode above the ground just by my window. The fabric on my chair was torn and had been partially removed, and one socket was broken. Not what I expected from a three star hotel. Breakfast was fair.

Room Tip: Front side is noisy because of the train.

If you are looking for a cheap place to stay, this is it. They have very good prices including free private parking. However, the cheap price comes with problems as well. First is the the noise. Since the hotel is right next to the train rails, you will listen to trains coming and going every time. Second is the reception staff, which in our case was not good at all. The lady had no patience and it seems she was angry with something.

Good points first:
(Note: We stayed at the Hotel, not the adjacent hostel)

If you are going to the Schoenfeld airport then this hotel is perfectly located. You can catch the S9 from the nearby Frankfurter Allee Station directly to the airport for 3.60 euros.

The shower in the private bathroom, internet and beds are great.
Really good view of local neighbourhood from top floor where our room was.
Interesting restaurants nearby.
Easy to get to the hotel by public transit.
Cheap price.(29 AUD on special for double room)

Kettle and coffee and hairdryer supplied.

There's a lift! and it works! This is great for big suitcases and tired legs.

Bad points:
No luggage storage other than in hotel foyer and 'at own risk'.

Receptionist not that friendly. Chair in our room was shabby and dirty, but still comfortable.

Really bad points:
I had no idea this was a smoking hotel. I didn't know they still had them in Germany. The room smelled like old smoke when we first arrived. There was a (clean) ashtray on the table.

Later on, fresh cigarette smoke somehow kept coming into our room, probably when the next door guests lit up...through the air vents.

As an ex-smoker, this was both fantastic and awful.
If you hate cigarette smoke, then maybe book somewhere else.
If you want to smoke, then book here.

Room Tip: Pick a room on the top floor for the good view. Book here if you like to smoke or smell smoke.

We stayed in the hostel part of this hotel. Most of the photos provided by management on here are of the hotel not hostel. If you want a private room for a cheap price this place is a good option. The rooms are very basic but comfortable. They do not provide you with a rubbish bin. The shared bathrooms are not too bad. The hostel building is very old and creaky. You hear people walk up the stairs and the wall are thin. We were woken up a few times but generally had good sleeps. We found the staff very polite and helpful. It is in a great location. okay for a night or two.

This hostel is about a 5minute walk from the Berlin Frankfurter Allee S-Bahn and U-Bahn stations, and there are plenty of shops and places to buy food from, including a couple of supermarkets. The neighborhood seemed to be quite safe, but the hostel is situated right next to the S-Bahn tracks, so if you get a room on the wrong side (East) of the building, you may be in for some sleepless nights - even with the window closed, the trains are very loud and they are very frequent, running throughout the night too. To check-in, you need to go to the Georghof Hotel which is next door to the Georghof Hostel. You will need to ask for the WiFi password here, and you will also be asked if you would like to purchase your bedsheets for €3! The hostel only provides a bed (with duvet/pillow), you must pay extra for your bedsheet, duvet cover, pillow cover and a towel. If you have a sleepingbag with you, you can get away with just using that and not needing to purchase the bedsheets. There are toilet and shower facilities on each floor, though when we stayed there was only 1 shower in service (for the whole building - others had no doorlock or no showerhead) and a couple of toilets were also out of order (one with no door at all). We ended up having to use the shower on another floor. However, all of the washroom facilities were very clean. The room itself was very big, and there was a common room in the building on the first floor with various cooking facilities (though we didn't use them so I don't know how good they were). There is a lift in the building, so if you have heavy bags you don't have to climb loads of stairs unless you want to. Although the hostel had a few problems, the building as a whole was very well kept.

Room Tip: You do not want to book a room on the east side of this building; the S-Bahn tracks are within 100me...

This is not a hostel at all!! It is clean, but very dull. On arrival the some what young women at the desk was rude and not helpful. She also had the nerve to ask me if I needed bed sheets! Well yes I did! And it cost me 3 extra euros, making this a 17 eu hostel, not 14 like was advertised.(cheeky if you ask me, all to get your sight listing further up the page!)

The "hostel" is 20 feet from the train line so you can imagine the noise. All the showers over flow and I had to resort to a shower in a stop start fashion. This hostel will want to make you top yourself !!! Biggest down fall is staff!
