“Nice hotel close to Schoenefeld airport”
Reviewed 22 April 2013

Very close to Schoenefeld airport (not main airport of Berlin), but far from Berlin city center.
The hotel has a nice restaurant, nice cafe with outside sitting by a small lake (or better say natural pool).
The hotel itself is nice and clean, but nothing special. Completely depends on the purpose of travel. If you want to go to Berlin city center usually, it is not suitable at all. If the location is suitable for you, you can consider it.

Room Tip: I have heard from some guests that some rooms are facing train railway and are very noisy, but not m...

Walk from the airport in minutes, get to the train station in minutes, 20mins to berlin centre. If you are looking for easy transfers to the airport and dont like the rush of getting to and from the airport this is perfect. We prefer to stay outside and spend full days in the city so this was good for us. However if you want to be able to pop back to the hotel and then go out into berlin again this wont work for you. Its super clean, lovely rooms, nice people, great breakfast. Pre booking meant we got an excellent price. Cannot fault it. It is next to the rail way so there is noise but it did not at any point affect us.

Stayed at hotel on a snowy few days in February. The hotel was beautiful and warm, bed comfortable and everything around was exceptionally clean.Shuttle took about 7 or 8 minutes to pick us up and take us to the hotel.Breakfast was really first class - a few warm items, plenty of cereals, preserves, hams, cheeses, cakes and rolls, it was worth 10euros. Took a walking tour of Berlin which was first class. The train station is about 700 yards away and the express runs every 30 minutes (there are other trains). A word of caution !!! the ticket machines are not in English and are quite confusing, luckily a friendly local helped me - that station is unmanned,so I would advise buying your tickets in arrivals - there is a train ticket office there.Use the transport system in Berlin it is really good. You need an ABC zones ticket.A great location for the airport - it is in walking distance. But remember it is near the train tracks - it didn't affect our sleep but a lie in might be interrupted.

This hotel is an ideal night-stop if you are in need of a base close to Schoenefeld airport. The rooms themselves may not be the most modern, but they are comfortable, clean and have the basics for you (TV, mini-bar). The shower in the room I stayed in was excellent, really powerful and hot.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a free bus to the airport, useful if you have heavy bags or young children, but you can very easily walk as well as it's not that far. You can also leave bags with the hotel if you like to save carrying them.

The Hotel is next to the railway tracks - so you will get the sound of trains - but these seemed to stop at about midnight, and the rooms are double glazed so unless you are a really light sleeper you should get some sleep.

Note that if you are going into Berlin for the day but don't want to carry your bags with you, there are baggage lockers at Schoenefled Train Station (Hbf) which cost about 5 E a day for a locker capable of storing a medium sized rucksack or bag (no large suitcases).

Trains run every 30 minutes to Alexanderplatz and beyond and it only takes 25 minutes; far quicker and cheaper than a taxi.

A nice friendly hotel near to the airport. You can walk there from the Airport rather than waiting for the shuttle bus if you wanted to.
On arrival the staff were very friendly and the check in was quick. The twin room we had on the second floor was very nice and with it being warm you could open the windows in three angles. Yes you are near the railway line and some of the trains were noisy but all you need to do to get rid of the sound is to quite simply close the window. They did not run during the night so sleeping was not a problem.
The restuarant was just across the path from the main building and breakfast was served from 0630-1000 at a cost of 10 Euro but there was a good choice of food and this was re-stocked quite a few times.
We did eat in there in the evening too and it is open from noon until midnight again the food was very good and two courses each and two large beers cost us 36 euro which i though was good value for money as the portions were large.

We stayed for an early departure at the airport. The service was friendly and efficient though the room had no AC so any hotter and it would not have been a pleasant stay. The amenities had an old school charm- minibar, wine glasses, shoe polish bag! the hotel is <10 minutes to departures, with safe, smooth sidewalks the whole route.
Free baby cot was included in our online rate.

For anyone who is confused by my comment 'not so good location' its not because of safety issues. The hotel is in a safe area but it's just so far away from civilization. If you suddenly want to go out somewhere at night like say a pub, restaurant, etc. you have to walk 5-10 minutes to the Schonefeld station to grab a train to your destination. The station is not 24 hours open so it could be a problem on weekdays.
The hotel is rather nice though. Cosy rooms, friendly staff and good food in the restaurants. The pub, however, is not open everyday which can be a problem for some of you (like myself) recreational beer drinkers. The TV in the room is rather small and obsolete with very few channels to choose from featuring only German channels (showing American TV in German). So TV for non-Germans is not really a good option. The internet however is quite high speed. You can stream your TV shows or live TV online without any problem.
All in all I would recommend this hotel for travelers wishing to stay in Berlin for not more than 3 days. More than that and you're bound to get a wee bit depressed for being away from civilization.
