Stayed here during the ITB fair and chose it due to the free shuttle provided. Small cozy, clean and functional hotel with friendly and quiet room. Breakfast was excellent especially the freshly squeezed orange juice from a fantastic self-service machine that one feeds fresh oranges and see the juice extracted before your eyes! Another nice feature is the free wi-fi workstation with printer in the lobby which comes in handy to print a boarding pass. Overall, a very good value hotel. The evening meal at the restaurant was also good with local fares. Will return to stay if I am back in Berlin.

I was lucky to find a special offer for this hotel, 'cause it's usually more expensive than what I paid. Friendly personnel, clean and very well located in order to reach the Tegel Airport. The room was nice and comfortable, except for the shower. One could not move the shower head up or down so it wasn't comfortable to stand below it, because the water would run towards the wall and the space is very small. The extra fee to use the Wi-Fi was very expensive. This is something that nowadays should be included in the price.

Good value for the money. I suggest to be a member of the Arccorhotel Club to get free internet. Parking is available front of the hotel. It is not city center, but if you need hotel for business trip in these area, it is good choice.

Arrived by taxi from Flughafen Tegel (Tegel Airport), which is only 3km away, €9 fare. My colleague and I had booked two rooms and we were greeted by a most helpful receptionist, what a lovely lady she is and most helpful. Everything about the hotel was explained to us in detail, we were even presented with a map showing where the hotel is without having to ask, and informed that we could buy tickets for the U-Bahn & S-Bahn rail networks from reception. €6.50 for a day pass covering both underground and surface rail networks throughout Berlin - great value!

We ate in the hotel that evening, we both had fillet steaks, what a well presented meal with only the best ingredients used, it was really lovely and although a little on the higher side price-wise, it was worth every cent. Upon getting into bed, I realised how good quality the bed was, and what a great nights sleep I had. The following morning, what a spread for breakfast, lots of freshly cut fruit, even a machine with oranges beside it to just drop in as many oranges as one may wish to make one's own fresh orange juice! A waitress approached us and asked if we would perhaps like scrambled, fried or poached eggs with bacon, and tea or coffee. We both had coffee, and whilst the first cup was poured for us, our own coffee pot was left on the table. As we left the hotel for business at Berlin Messe (Berlin Exhibition Centre) I thought to myself how glad I was were were staying at this hotel for four nights. I have stayed in many hotels in Berlin over the past 30 years, next to the Adlon which is three times the price of this hotel, Mercure Hotel Berlin City West is the next best that I have stayed in whilst in Berlin. Lots of TV channels also. The high speed wifi is fantastic and free to holders of Accor Hotel Cards, so get your Accor card now!

Can I criticise anything? Only one lift, this hotel needs a second lift for guests and a separate service lift. Towels are good, but could be a little better. Why do we only ever have english channels that are news channels? We do not all want to see only news, BBC World, BBC Knowledge please!

This hotel is well maintained, very clean and a great location - 30 metres to the U-Bhan (Underground) station.

Room Tip: I reckon all of the rooms are good

Although the title above will no longer be relevant once Brandenburg airport is opened in March and Tegel closes down, it was perfect for us for spending the night after landing at Tegel at 21:00 and before starting our trip in Germany, away from Berlin. The hotel is only about 5 minutes drive from Tegel and for 48 Euro it was far cheaper than most "official" airport hotels, including the Mercure Airport Hotel. The crib we asked in the reservation was already in our room, as I later learned, doesn't go without saying in Germany (or elsewhere). The A/C was working fine and there was a flat-screen TV in the room which we didn't bother to use during our 10 hours stay in the hotel. The staff where very nice and fluent with English. There is a nice restaurant in the lobby. I only used it to get some hot water for the baby but the plates on the tables looked good and so did the atmosphere. Parking was free in the street.
We decided to skip the hotel breakfast as it was well overpriced (18 Euro per person, children free) and ate outside. The room was big enough for 2 adults and a 4 years old (sharing a bed) plus a crib + 2 large suitcases and a few bags (traveling with children).

As for the surrounding of the hotel - Nothing particularly interesting. There are two supermarkets across the street and a bakery and some more stores beyond them. There is also a U-Bahn station 2 minutes walk from the hotel. There was a neighborhood un-interesting flee market across from the hotel on Sunday morning.

If I have to find a downside - There is only one lift which was a bit busy at the morning check-out, but nothing that should be a serious consideration.

We chose this hotel for the last night of our extended trip to Germany, as we had a very early morning flight out of Tegel. We booked a good pre-paid rate through Mercure, and were not disappointed in the location. The hotel is about 10 minutes from Tegel in a less-than-beautiful area of town, but it seemed safe. Free parking was available during our Saturday-night stay, on the dead-end street in front of the hotel.

The hotel looks much nicer outside than in, and check-in was efficient and quick. What ruined our stay was the heat. While the main portion of the intense heat wave to hit Berlin had passed, it was still in the 80's during our visit. When we checked in, we noted that the room was hot, so we turned on the A/C and left for dinner. When we returned around 9:00pm, the room was even hotter than when we left. I called the Front Desk and was advised that the hotel's A/C had not been "functioning" for "a while," and that there was "no opportunity to fix until later in the week." They recommended we open the large window. That might have worked, had we not faced the outdoor pool and patio area. A large family had set up "camp" and were making all kinds of noise. I finally called the front desk after 11:00pm, asking what time the pool area closed. They told me it was to have closed at 10:00pm; I asked about the group outside and, to their credit, they immediately went outside and asked them to leave. That worked for a couple of hours, before a couple of other couples went out there around 1:00am and whooped it up for a long time.

All that said, even with the window open, the room was very hot and none of us got much sleep. I sincerely wished they had advised us of the broken A/C before we checked in.

We left the hotel at 4:30am bleary-eyed and more than a little cranky, so I cannot recommend this hotel. On the plus side, it IS close to Tegel.
