“A nice business hotel in Berlin”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 October 2012

This hotel is large and obviously caters for business groups and people. The rooms are fine, the breakfasts are very good and the service is very good. The gym and pool area is fantastic. The hotel is not in the centre of the main attractions and you will need to take trams which are frequent and inexpensive. We paid a very reasonable price for our five night stay and received good value. In hindsight though, we may have picked a different hotel that is located in a more vibrant and central part of the city.

We wanted to stay at a decent hotel with a swimming pool, very close to the Zoo and Ku’damm.
- True, everything we needed was quite close to the hotel,
- The room was clean and quiet, no disturbing smells, enough light,
- The view was exactly what we asked for – eye-relaxing Zoo tree crowns carpet and some large zoo feathery residents flying over the pond,
- We enjoyed complimentary drinks: tasty mineral water and tempting Nespresso,
- The swimming pool is what the doctor prescribes after 5 hours at the Zoo,
- Roger&Gallet cosmetics with a fragrance which we personally liked,
- Hotel’s XXenia restaurant offers kid’s menu and makes you feel very comfortable – friendly attentive waiters, quiet atmosphere,
- It was very convenient for us that taxi is always there right in front of the hotel,
- The way from Tegel airport takes around 20 minutes,
- Supermarket – Kaiser’s – is 7 minutes by foot (at Wittenbergplatz, by Ansbacher Straße).
- Wi-Fi was OK in our room - free as part of our package.

The highlights of the hotel from our point of view are:

1/ SLEEPING AMENITIES: mattresses, pillows, blankets, linen - just everything in the bed is so relaxing that you have to make an effort or even two or three to get out of it.
2/ BREAKFASTS: we have visited a few restaurants serving very good breakfasts but this one is one of the best-best.

I can’t point any terrible shortcomings that spoilt our stay, but there were some disappointments taking into account 200 Euros per night:

- I expected our Family Deluxe room to be spacious as it was announced on Accor website where we booked the hotel – the only place for kid’s bed was in front of our bed and it left little space on the way - in our opinion the room was not spacious enough for a Deluxe Family status,
- I expected our Family room bed to be a Family bed which, in my opinion, is a double bed with one mattress but not two separate mattresses so we had no family bed,
- There were no marks about our late check out at reception although it was part of our package (Business offer), I had to ask and remind about it,
- Other reviews mentioning odd (to say the least) naked men sitting with all their treasures out at the spa zone are true – the hotel MUST do something about the rules for this place obvious to all clients – we could NOT use the spa together as a family. It is not a nudist party – it is a European top class hotel with child friendly policy. Is it not?!

Room Tip: For a more than 2 nights family stay (adults with child) it's better to ask for a Suite as the...

This hotel is a 5* hotel. Really nice room and amenities. Very helpful service/concierge. Located just 5 minutes walk from KaDaWe and of course across the street from the zoo. Otherwise, not very close to other attractions, which seem to be mainly in East Berlin. However, everything is easily available by public transport.

Fantastic hotel just a few minutes walk from Wittenberg Platz (KaDeWe) and the Zoo, easy to get to from Schonenfeld as the trains leave from the airport to the Zoo station (takes about 30 mins). The pool is huge (if somewhat a little cold) and the sauna and steam rooms are good if you don't mind the odd naked German. Breakfast is served from 6am until 11am which was great as we were here for a relaxing break, so no need to get up too early.

Room Tip: The views on the Zoo side of the hotel are over the zoo and the Teirgarten

Highly recommended as a base for a tourist visit to Berlin.
The location adjacent to the Tiergarten is central and convenient - and particularly good if you are a runner!
Bicycle hire is available close by, making virtually all of Berlin's main tourist sites accessible within about 20-30 minutes.
The hotel is comfortable and slick if a little bland and corporate - but then you wouldn't book somewhere like this if you were looking for quirky character.
The superior rooms are spacious and not a great deal extra. It's certainly worth tracking down a deal that includes breakfast, as the latter is excellent, but expensive if paid for separately.
The spa is great for an early evening swim and steam.
All round very positive experience - wouldn't hesitate to return.

Room Tip: Worth paying a little more for the superior room - for sitting area and more spacious feel

Very happy with the choice of hotel, in a quiet avenue just 10mins walk from Zoo station. The entrance is spacious and bright with attentive reception staff. I'd booked a Junior Suite online which turned out to be 2 rooms made into one large open bedroom/lounge area, so we had 2 bathrooms, 2 TV's, coffee makers, etc. Comfortable beds, plenty of space & very clean.
As written elsewhere, the hotel has a nice pool & spa area. We stayed Sat/Sun nights at the end of September & it wasn't crowded with no noise heard in the corridors during the night. I'm guessing that it's used more by business people during the week & so at weekends out of school holidays it's not as busy. Didn't choose the breakfast buffet as felt it was too expensive at 24Euros, walked around the corner instead where there are bakeries selling fresh bread & coffee for 5-7Eur. Overall, highly recommend this hotel as very comfortable & clean at a reasonable rate, with professional, attentive staff

Room Tip: Choose the 'Junior' suite as this was a better deal than taking a twin & a single. In th...

We were dissapointed in the bathroom, not perfect clean and not enough towels. The receptionist was not very helpfull/friendly. She didn't explain clearly about the parking, we ended up being stuck in the garage. She didn't give us a card to excit. The breakfast on the other hand was amazing. Fresh with a big variety! It's very far from the central, so more a business hotel.
