“Excellent Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 November 2013

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for five nights in early November and it was an excellent choice. We managed to locate the hotel quite easily (many thanks to fussweh for his excellent directions), it is in a very quiet, residential location. Our first floor room was clean and comfortable. The self catering facilities were quite basic (even Heston Blumenthal would struggle with a microwave, pot, two large spoons and a whisk!). We tended to eat out so it was no big deal for us.
The two free bottles of beer and water each day were a nice touch. I'm not a big fan of Becks beer but it was a godsend on arrival after a long day's travelling, I doubt the first one even touched the sides! The breakfast each morning was very good. I rarely have a cooked breakfast and the continental choice was excellent with a wide choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, meats, cheeses etc.
The hotel staff were also excellent, we found them friendly, chatty and very professional. A special thank you to the young lady with the glasses at reception (sorry, we didn't catch your name), she went out of her way to assist us when we had trouble accessing and printing our return boarding cards, a nice touch, thanks.
We didn't feel the hotel was in the least remote, it was an easy stroll to the tram, which were very frequent, and 10 minutes later we were in the city centre. We found it an ideal location. The Netto supermarket at the bottom of the street was also very handy (cheap but excellent beer and wine).
All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel and in Berlin and have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to other travellers. We made an excellent choice, it was very good value for money and we will definitely stay there if visiting Berlin again in the future.

Room Tip: Our first floor room directly overlooked the street to the front of the hotel but we're never di...

The staff was a bit rude. They didn't give a good impresion and the first bad experience we had, was when we arrived. We had ordered a parking spot in the parking garage to our very expensive Mercedes-Benz. To our big dissapoint they told us that the spot we had reserved was already taken. That meant our Mercedes had to be parked in a street out of our sight. We had a order confirmation on a parking spot!

In general we think the reception staff was too inexperienced and didn't communicate with each other very well. The hotel in itself was great and overall satisfying.

This is pretty tidy, clean and comfortable hotel. It is however in my opinion way too far out of the city and away from interesting areas if you are staying more than a couple of days, as it is a 10 minute walk to the tram, and then another half an hour trip into the heart of Berlin.

In saying that however - if you only have to make that trip a few times then this place will be good for you, and the value for money was great.

Breakfast was nice, good coffee too.

The room was fine for a 4 star with all of the facilities that one might reasonably expect, overall however it was rather disappointing...The appealing decor was let down badly by heavily stained carpets, there was a small balcony with a view of a block of flats next-door, the 'double' bed was effectively two singles put together (each with single duvets/covers), also the fridge in the room made peculiar noises and even woke me up a few times...! WiFi access was intermittent throughout my stay (despite having a room on the first floor) and this actually became quite aggravating when trying to make forward hotel bookings/travel reservations.

The location is a double-edged sword really...It's a quiet residential area but it's nowhere near the city centre. Trams cost about 6 euro for a day pass and if you need the metro/buses as well then that costs extra. A taxi from the central train station on arrival cost 18 euro. In total transport to and from the hotel over my week long stay set me back around 60-80 euro. There was a fitness centre and sauna open in the evenings, which I didn't use although I did use the washing facilities to launder some clothes as I spent a week and was travelling light. The restaurant in the hotel was nothing special - hardly any choice (2 starters, 4 mains, 2 desserts), small portions, very over-priced and not much in the way of originality. Room service offered even fewer options. Dining options in the vicinity are somewhat limited - I tended to eat lunch while out and then have a snack in the evening.

I booked this hotel through an on-line agent and when I checked in was told that I needed to e-mail the hotel my booking confirmation the moment I arrived, which I found rather disconcerting. Altogether lukewarm customer service throughout my stay left me rather underwhelmed. All in all there's definitely room for improvement here...I was a less than satisfied customer on the whole and in all honesty would be somewhat unlikely to stay again.

On the surface it appears a good option - a 4 star hotel in Berlin for less than £50 a night - however value is limited when considering all of the above and so I would certainly shop around before making a return trip.

If you want good simple accommodation, this is a worthwhile choice. The hotel is very clean and modern with friendly, helpful reception staff.
Our standard room had a bath with shower over it, and a balcony with a reasonable view of trees and sunset.
All the normal expected facilities were provided, including free wifi, plus a kitchenette with kettle, sink, microwave and fridge.
Better still, each day there were two bottles of water and two bottles of (Beck's) beer provided free of charge. Try getting that from any normal hotel!
We didn't use the bar, restaurant, or spa, but it all looked good.
Although not in the centre of town, this hotel is pretty handy as long as you can walk a few hundred metres from the tram stop. The M4 tram in 5 minutes takes you straight to and from Greifswaldstrasse which links with the S-Bahn S9 to Schonefeld airport, and another 5 minutes or so gets you to Alexanderplatz and the Unter den Linden areas.
With the kitchenette ion the room you could easily do some simple self-catering if you wanted, as there is a Netto only about 150 metres from the hotel on the way to the tram.
We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Berlin.

Room Tip: In October 2013 ask for a room at the back of the hotel as the building opposite the hotel front is...

This Apart Hotel gives you good size rooms with basic kitchen area. Its a 15 Euro taxi to the city centre or the Tram is close by. There is also a supermarket and bakery very close so if you want to cater for yourself it is very simple. I had the studio which was great and a colleague had the 2 floor larger apartment so we could hold a meeting in it. Worked out way better value than a meeting room on a delegate rate. It is in a residential area so no easy restaurants close by. Hotel Breakfast had very limited hot options but continental choice was OK

Room Tip: check wi fi works in your room as we had issues

We stayed here for three nights while touring Europe by car. This was a wonderful hotel, friendly helpful staff. Very clean, large rooms with well designed kitchenettes. Comfortable beds. Even complimentary beer and water daily. The location is perfect, close to the very efficient tram system, as well as a grocery store. The only negative was that the wifi did not work well, intermittent service. We would stay again.
