“Busy business hotel with all you need for a good stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 March 2014

I stayed for one night in the Estrel and I was very impressed with the range of services on offer. There is a food court set up in the lobby which offers a range of cuisine from French to Thai and a beautiful Orangery atrium for breakfast. If you add to this an airy and manned cigar bar and a cabaret show (which I didn't see) you have pretty much all tastes covered. A little out of the centre (wherever that is in Berlin) drops a mark otherwise excellent

Estrel is very friendly hotel with good location. You can use S-Bahn (Sonnenalle) to go to the Center (Alexander-Platz).
Very clean room, especially bathroom, hot water, warm temp, good big beds, nice lobby.
Tasty breakfast, friendly barmens, cheap menu.

Room Tip: Weakness: some rooms have bad view to sheds. You should booking room with view to lobby and restau...

Apparently Europe's largest hotel by room numbers. Location is away from the City center to the south east in an area that used to back onto the wall. The hotel is functional and is mainly used for business conventions and large groups. Rooms are basic but clean. Don't expect any luxury. Breakfast is in the main entrance area and is a a good buffet style. Ideal for large groups and conferences. We were over 500 people and everything was managed smoothly.

Arrived for a week's work in mid-Feb smack into a conference - the whole place was heaving like Waterloo Station in the rush hour. The scale of the place, and the bar, lobby and restaurant area can only be described as monstrous! It's good value, especially for company expenses but as others have noted - no bedroom safes and the wi-fi is a pain unless one pays for an upgrade. Would only go back for business purposes as it's quite a way from the centre of Berlin.

Rooms are OK. Food exceeded expectations - especially when catering for our large conference. The gym was a little small. The biggest issue is the wifi which is a bit feeble and temperamental - needs some more horsepower and investment.

This hotel is so vast it feels like an airport. The rooms are very basic with the only bathroom amenities being very cheap liquid soap in a squeeze bottle stuck to the wall. There are also no safes in the rooms. The food was ok - I would recommend the German restaurant - and the staff are all very friendly, but the place is so big it is impossible for them to provide you with a personal service that would make you feel special.

Someone told me this is the biggest hotel in Germany over 1000 rooms. YES it is big. I stayed here 3 nights for a company sales kick off.
Getting there. I took the bus from Tegal Airport to Alexanderplatz for 2.60€. Then the S+U Bahn for another 2.60€. The Airport bus leaves from stop 2 every 10 minutes. Travel to the city is 35 to 50 minutes depending on the traffic and you see a few of the main tourist sites on the way in. Otherwise expect to pay about 40€ by taxi direct from the airport.
The hotel is about 15 minutes South of Alexanderplatz in the Mitte (middle) district. A taxi will cost you about 20€
As you see from the pictures the reception area is a huge atrium with a bars, restaurants, and comfy couches to lounge in. To the side of reception you find a large conference centre and a “festival hall” where they do live entertainment. I think it’s a package feature of the hotel. Cover acts cabaret I would describe it. Our Gala Dinner was entertained by “The Blues Brothers” so it was a Soul night. Very good. A the food was great.
It’s a big operation run with typical German efficiency but only a business hotel to me I wouldn’t use the location if I was visiting for pleasure. In fact I am staying the weekend in Alexanderplatz if you would like to compare reviews.
What do I like in a hotel
1. Free WiFi. There is free basic WiFi. If you need hi speed then there are a few price plans depending on time.

2. Great bed. Yes to this one 4/5

3. Tea making facilities. No facilities in room. Doesn't seem to be the done thing in Germany as I have experienced this a few times. So its room service or a trip downstairs.
4. Good shower & Bath Combo. 5/5 hot , big and relaxing
5. Gym, Sauna, Spa. Small but nice fitness centre. There is a sauna but no spa/pool. A beauty centre offers various goodies.
6. Idiot proof public transport links are a bonus. There is an S+bahn station 2 minutes walk. There is a good free Berlin S+U Bahn app on iTunes. Like all good Concierge, they were very helpful with maps, direction and advice. And you can buy your transport tickets from the desk. Single tickets are 2.60€. All day ticket for bus+underground (U)+Overground(S) and trams is 6.80€
Right of up to Alexanderplatz and The Park Inn by Radison be sure to check out my review.

Room Tip: TIP : is nothing to do with the hotel. But for great Berlin information such as transportation and...
