This was the 5th time I have stayed at the Hotel and yet again it came up to expectations.Right in the middle of Kurfuerstendamm and with easy access to the rest of the City the hotel couldn't be better sited. The room was excellent and very clean with plenty of space and the bathroom was spotless with piping hot water available at all times. Breakfast was plentiful, with great choices both hot and cold. The staff were friendly and very helpful especially at the check-in. Some reviews say that the staff are unfriendly, of course they will be if people are rude to them and don't treat them with respect, even the cleaners were friendly. I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: If you want anything in particular then ask them, they will accomodate you if they can.

This hotel is squarely average in every possible way - you are likely to forget it as soon as you turn your back. But it has one big pre: It is placed in the absloute middle of the acion in Berlin - on Kurfurstendamm itself - you have a front seat to a lot of things going on in the great german apple. So - if you don't mind the total forgettability of the place - why not stay there?

A nice hotel, well located, good breakfast, nice staff but as a couple we were given two twin beds not a double as requested (for a double room). We were told that the only actual double beds are in the family rooms. Worth noting. But otherwise, perfectly good hotel.

Room Tip: Choose one at the back and CHECK if you actually want a double bed (their double rooms come with twi...

Ok, it is central but that's about it. There are much better central hotels nearby. We went there as it was advertised as child friendly and that was ok actually, they had highchair, cot, etc.
However, we found staff generally unfriendly with a can't be bothered attitudes.
Check-in is also rather late at 3 pm. This is often the case theoretically but mostly some rooms do become available a bit earlier than that. Not there. We sat in the lobby for over 2 hours with an under 2 years old and asked to be informed as soon as room become availalbe but nobody could be asked. We waited until after 3, a room was then available but I bet there would have been one a bit earlier if staff had a customer orientated attitude.

The hotel itself is good - a bit cheesy with the Hollywood theme. The rooms are nice enough (really low beds and only a tiny comforter enough to cover one person, barely). You get free wi-fi in 30 minute increments only if you stay in the lobby... ok if that's the only way to get it. The breakfast is nice substantial buffet including hot food, flaky croissant, smoked salmon, and more - this sets you up for a nice day as a tourist where you really only need a snack instead of stopping for a full lunch. The real benefit of the hotel was the amazing location, only a couple blocks to the S-Bahn and U-Bahn, and on a main street with loads of restaurants within a couple blocks with outside seating. I felt quite safe walking around the neighborhood and there were always people out and about.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
[Live like a film-star] The Hollywood Media Hotel Berlin, located directly by the Kurfurstendamm, pays homage to the films, international stars and unforgettable film legends. A private hotel convinces you with its individual and family ambience and is popular with city trips as well as business travellers. The location of this unique themed hotel, by the famous shopping mile, in direct contact to the zoological gardens, the famous Gedachtniskirche (remembrance church) and only a few minutes away from the Potsdam Square, creates the ideal starting point for a discovery tour through this vibrant German capital. The theme "Films" and "Hollywood" are picked up throughout the hotel. Guests can very closely experience a slice of film history during a walk through the hotel in various themed areas. Unique set images and photos of films as well as posters of the Berlin film director and hotel owner, Artur Brauner, complete this cinematic atmosphere. Each of the 182 rooms and apartments is named after a famous actor or a film legend and equipped with a portrait and a biography. If you prefer the classical elegance of a film diva like Marlene Dietrich or the revolutionary charm of a certain James Dean, each guest will become a star during his/her visit. The guest plays the leading role from the very first minute and will enjoy the convenience of a true film-star. Hotel guest can experience the luxury of a champagne breakfast in the "Bel Air" restaurant. This restaurant is also available for meetings and groups for lunch, or dinner in the evening. This Berlin film hotel also offers its meeting and hotel guests a modern smoking lounge. The hotel's own film studio "Neue Lupe" with a stage, is suitable for traditional film shows and presentations, or can serve as a meeting room or press conference. Each event is effectively staged in one of the 9 conference rooms. You would like to escape from the stress of the day? Then come and relax in our "Cleopatra". That is the name of our wellness centre on the sixth floor of the hotel. Guests dive into an ancient Egyptian comfort-landscape and get pampered like the famous queen of Egypt. Modern cardio-equipment for a personal workout, a Finnish dry sauna, a steam bath and an experience shower with a tingling rain effect offer the guests a diversified programme. Individual massages and cosmetic treatments must be booked separately. The Callas Bar attached to the hotel is set up in the style of America in the sixties. Drink a cocktail under the black and white portrait of Audrey Hepburn in "Breakfast at Tiffany's", and let your gaze be drawn to the lively goings-on in the Kurfurstendamm. The new Italian restaurant "Capone" with seating on the Kurfurstendamm, provides all the sumptuous needs of our guests and also offers room-service. Linger awhile and dream of luxury and glamour, starlets and idols, you can experience all this in the Berlin film hotel and be treated as the major player in a cinematic setting. ... more   less
