“Beautiful suite with a private feeling”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 January 2012

My husband and I stayed at the Mandala Suites in October 2011, for about 3 nights. We decided to splurge a little and chose this place with spacious rooms, well, actually; apartment is a better word! Definitely worth the money.

I am not easily impressed, and my husband even less so (he is the really picky one :)). But when we first entered the suite, we were thrilled with the nicely decorated apartment! I will make sure to put up photos when I have them available.

The walk-in closet was ridiculously big,so of course we were in heaven. In addition to the walk-in closet, there were three more closets in the hallway outside the bathroom. The bathroom was mainly white, and in a very nice state (both regarding cleanliness and standard wise), with robes and a hairdryer, of course, and bathtub/shower.

The kitchen wasn't super fancy but still very nice, and with all kinds of commodities; stove, glasses, plates, tea, snacks, fridge, and even a microwave I think. Definitely made for a long stay! If one can afford it, that is.

The big bedroom/livingroom had a desk with some commodities, and there was also a sofa with tables and all. Bed was very comfortable, and the big windows had blinds that could be maneuvered up and down electrically - as it seems, made not only to shut out light but also to keep the room cool during the summer (or, as in our case, in early October which was still really hot). In addition to that, there was what seemed to be a brand new AC on the wall, looking very chic and being easy to handle.

Luckily, we had a room pretty high upp and facing the inner yard, so we slept peacefully. We also had a balcony, which was great for pre-drinks with family before going out.

Even though the suite had a carpet covering the whole floor (which can be icky), this did not bring the feeling down, The carpet was in a perfect state. The suite felt very clean and nice, and it was a pleasure staying there. Check the photos other people put up, that's what our bathroom looked like and we had, if not the biggest suite (as seen in one pic, I think), a pretty big one with the whole livingroom part and all (see picture called "Sofa" by reviewer Lapsaptong).

The one picture I have available is from the breakfast room, which was sooo nice - both room and breakfast! However, not included in the room and quite expensive, so we only ate there once. There were several cafés around for nice breakfasts and brunches.

The service was discrete and very polite and pleasant. The lobby is in the same building as the suites, but witha different entrance, so to speak. Very few people, about two people who greet you when you arrive, and see you to your room. We only saw two other guests during our whole stay, so it was a different feeling although nice.
The staff also had maps to give away, umbrellas to lend you, and were able to give us information on practical tourist things, such as boats to take, tourist buses, etc. Very helpful.
Other than that: Free wifi in the rooms, and a computer room next to the lobby in case you didn't bring a computer.

We really enjoyed our stay there and would be happy to come back, if able to.

Have a nice stay!

Room Tip: A room facing the inner yard, and also, as a perk; a balcony!

When to go... you are on a weekend to explore Berlin and want to stay somewhere central, cozy and a bit elegant.

It happened now a few times to me that I opened my hotel room door and I was pleasantly surprised to find a well designed, spacious suite; I like. The suite has a large entrance area, a walk-in wardrobe, bath room with separate toilet, plus a large living room including kitchen and bedroom - wow! Everything is in an elegant style, well equipped; nothing missing. There is not much of a reception, though staff is friendly and they promised that by phone there is somebody available 24/7 (I didn't make use of it). They have a breakfast room / lounge on the 8th floor which continues in its elegant style. I can only recommend this hotel.

When to avoid...

this is a five star hotel. The suite was out of this world. Would have preferred to have enough wine glasses in the room (given only one) so don't have to call housekeeping every day, but maybe this is part of the plan? Don't know. the service is excellent and this hotel bar makes the very best martini in Germany!!!

Room Tip: A very short walk to tour buses and Potsdamer Platz, great location and great hotel

All fantastic. Right in Potsdam Square, very nice atmosphere, very good service, wide room and furniture high level. Breakfast in a amazing room with many different kind of sweets, fruits, yougurts and salted food. We have been there for a business meeting and we had very good time. I'd suggest to try also Spa and massage service: everything at the highest level.

The hotel is perfectly located in the city centre, and you are at walking distance to many of the main attractions - the Brandenburger Gate, the Gendarmen Market, Checkpoint Charlie. The suites are lovely and the beds are very comfortable. The spa is located on the top floor and offers an incredible view of the city. We even borrowed two bikes from the hotel free of charge, which I would would really recommend - it's a great way to get arounf, and discover, the city. The staff at the recption were always friendly and helpful. We will definitely come back here on our next trip to Berlin!

This is my third stay at the Mandala Suites - I had stayed at the Mandala Hotel on Potsdamer Strasse in previous visits. I and my wife cannot say enough positive things about the Mandala Suites. The location is of course fabulous, as suggested by the U-Bahn station 100 meters away - "Stadmitte" (City Center); the rooms are spacious; the decor is lovely and comfortable; the layout - closets, shelves, etc. make it extremely convenient living. The staff is always super-pleasant, courteous, helpful, and immediately responsive to every request.

I give the Mandala Suites my highest recommendation.

Room Tip: I have loved them all
