first the positives. The Mandala Suites is, as in the name, more of a suite hotel for longer stays but a perfect solution for families and people that need more space. The location is top on the Friedrich Strasse in Mitte but thru an atrium in the second row, ergo quiet ! We stayed in a Mgt. Suite which has about 680 sq.ft.. You walk in, big entrance, to the right separate WC with sink, bathroom with tub/shower and sink, blowdryer, warming towel rack, cosmetic goodies, big bedroom with comfortable bed, big closet with safe - big enough for smaller laptop, flatscreen with intl. channels.
To the left, hallway closet for coats, suitcases etc..much as in an apt and then a combination kitchen/living room with door out onto a balcony looking out toward the west. The kitchen has sink, dishwasher, microwave, two hot plates, dishes - the works - great for families with smaller children. The living room comfortable with couches and chairs, desk, tv with intl. channels.

Breakfast is on the eighth floor in a very modern light room and is extra - but worth it. Most items are on the buffett that is constantly replenished - very fresh - all from breads to goodies, meats and cheese, fish and condiments, müslis and jogurts, at least 5 kinds of fresh fruits. Coffee and tea have to be ordered, you can also order eggs and a selection of juices - problem, there are only 12 tables and if the hotel should be full you won't get a seat quickly. Also when full - the service can be very very slow.

So onto the minuses - check in and check out are disorganised and slow. There are two rooms next to each other - one with a few stairs to get up to - very practical with suitcases. There are beautiful desks set up for check in but no chairs around them, so checking in you stand while the poor staff are also standing typing into a computer on a low desk -Ergonomics at it's best.
Same with check out...

Be careful : the check in time is 15.00 (3pm), we knew this and wrote in advance that we could be a little early as our train came in at 14.15 (2.15pm). We arrived at the hotel at 14.35 (2.35) and we're told the room is not ready. I mentioned that I had written in advance and was told:
Quote: If you want a guarantee, then you should reserve the room for the night before.
I was speechless - this is totally unexceptable and not a good start.
Also our address was incomplete at check in so we handed over our business card to correct this, of which we were assured. Only to repeat the process at check out because it was not done - but why be surprised by someone that could make the above comment, right ?

But one person cannot change that we do highly recommend the Mandala Suites.

This hotel is more a suite hotel for a longer stay. The positiv remarks are; great location, big rooms and a great customer service. The breakfast room is on the top with a great view and good food.
The small Spa and fitness room are pleasant and clean. The minuses are; there is not a big lobby and the design is very old fashion. The wireless internet is free but the connection is not great. Also the hotel is in a building squeezed between other buildings and you're unlucky like myself there could be always some working noises which are not very pleasant (happened thru the day). Avoid the rooms direct by the elevator when you can't sleep with the elevator noise.
Overall a great price/value hotel and very nice staff!

Room Tip: Not close to the elevator.

Excellent place to stay. Located at friedrich street. Rooms are spacious. A little kitchen is in the room. Perfect when you travel with kids. Staff very friendly. Breakfast is on the top floor with an excellent view over Berlin. All shops are in walking distance.

Mandala Suites is the finest establishment you could possibly choose for your stay in central Berlin. Prices are reasonable mid-range but the standard of accommodation and service is five star plus. The suites are extremely spacious.

Booked a flight and hotel three night trip to Berlin between Christmas and New Year from laterooms. Arrived at the Mandala Suites and were completely blown away. Massive suite with everything once could wish for. Excellent customer service in a really interesting location close to Checkpoint Charlie, so what used to be East Berlin. The suite was superbly equipped and very comfortable. Couldn't fault anything, and the location and facilities really suited us. The suites are set up for business travellers, but because of the time of year we managed to get a really good rate. There is a restaurant for breakfast which we didn't use as there are any number of excellent cafes close by.

Room Tip: Our room had a balcony which looked over the street, but some rooms look over the central atrium. It...
