DORMERO Hotel Berlin Ku'damm

I remembered this hotel from many years ago as an oasis of civilized calm with impeccable service. Oh, how times have changed. I do hate harping but if it might help one weary traveller receive a quiet room instead of a noisy one, or the breakfast they ordered, or sleep late despite having hung the "do not disturb" sign on the door, then here goes...

The staff all seemed in a muddle. No one (except Antonio) really knew where to recommend for dinner or offered to order a taxi during a rainstorm or thought to warn us about the jackhammers facing the hotel's facade. The one restaurant we tried based on their suggestions had moved months before and resulted in our taking a 20 minute cab ride to some unknown suburb for dinner. (Yikes! Not to be repeated) The housekeepers opened and slammed our door twice despite the DND sign. Breakfast arrived without silverware. The wifi rarely worked and the TV, never. The taxi we thought we ordered for the airport was not. Aiya! And the hotel was not full...hmmmm.

Surprising blip in the Small Luxury Hotels corral of typically glorious properties.

Room Tip: Do not stay in a room facing the street as there is construction...and you will hear it !

We had a great time in Berlin. This hotel is perfect. Location, service, etc..
They arranged for my birthday (group of 6 persons) tickets for the Blue Man Group... We've got the best seats....
Our room was great. Breakfast fine.
Going to Berlin, I recommend everybody this hotel.

We enjoyed everyday of our 7 days with the Brandenburger Hof hotel. The hotel is set in an intimate setting, tasteful decor and artifacts, and with comfortable rooms. The staff were courteous, attentive and very professional. Dining and the range of wines were excellent. Housekeeping was excellent. Location of the hotel is terrific, close to shopping and tourist areas.

We have stayed with a few small luxury hotels of the world and I think the Brandenburger Hof hotel is the best so far! I have nothing but praise for the hotel!

Room Tip: Choose the upper floors.

I stayed at this hotel over three nights over a weekend. The hotel is in a great location, tucked away on a side street in the Charlottenberg district. The building is beautifully designed both externally and in the interior. However, at the price that you pay internet should be included. Also, there was one set of pillows for the bed even though there were two people staying in the room. Service was polite but with the exception of the night receptionist, it was not very personable.

Very Nice and good value for money.
Missing free wifi. And the breakfast was expensive.
Location is good - close to Kurfurstendamm.
Huge luxirous bedrooms with very nice bed.
Friendly staff.
Overall a very good choice for just a little bit extra money

I don't mind paying for luxury if I get luxury.
Luxury starts with service, at the Brandenburger Hof you don't get it. You don't get it as you get in with your luggage, you don't get it as there is no concierge service (or at least none that can do better than read to you the directory of services), you don't get it in room service (the menu is complicated, overpriced and would fit on the back of a stamp, forget about having something simple late at night -21:00-, it is not on offer nor can it be made on request) and you don't get it with cleaning service.
Luxury then is a decent bathroom, roomy and with a walk-in shower...forget that too!
Luxury is a good size bed and a good mattress, that you get.
There is nothing to hate about the Brandenburger Hof per se, there are just lots of annoyances which, cumulated and added to the absurd price (of a Suite, admitedly) makes the stay one to forget and a hotel where I would not return.

Room Tip: Avoid the Suite, they add nothing other than an absurd price.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
How can you resist a city that is 24/7 full of things worth seeing, flavors and sounds? In which everything is on the move, in which new things are constantly developed and others discovered. This is the challenge we accepted when we created the first Black Label among the DORMERO Hotels in the capital city Berlin. The DORMERO Hotel Berlin Ku’damm, located just a few meters from the famous boulevard “Kurfurstendamm”, is like the city itself – a balance between classical and modern design, trend and mainstream, globetrotter and fashionista. The boutique hotel is a fantastic blend of originality and contrast, tuned to the color black. Daring individualism in form and style, addressing the guest’s individual needs. With the Black Label, the previously Bohemian architecture was shaped into an unconventional frame redefining the traditional concept of the hotel. A hotspot in Berlin with unique and constantly changing experiences worth not only seeing, but above all experiencing live. The DORMERO Hotel Berlin Ku’damm has 72 rooms of three different categories ready for you. A perfect combination of design, individuality and minimalist style. For all those who need enough freedom to act out their stay in Berlin also behind closed doors. Some may feel it is a break in style, we think it is mystical and appealing. Feel as if you were at a secret place in the midst of the urban jungle. Enjoy the quiet location of the rooms and the view into the illuminated patio along with the technical features and the absolute sleeping comfort with all your senses. ... more   less
