“Moving”

This museum really brings home to you just how much people suffered when the Berlin Wall was built. It showed the extremes people went to to try and escape. Life must have been so hard for these people. It bought one of our group to tears. The museum was hot and small with lots of people but the displays and information were interesting. There was probably too much to take in in the time we were given but we felt we had had enough by then.

“Interesting but a lot to take in”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

I thought this was an interesting museum but there was a lot to take in and it was quite hot inside the rooms. So I didn't linger. But it is definitely worth a visit.

“Needs aircon but really interesting”
Reviewed 27 July 2014 via mobile

I really enjoyed the information in the museum with all the displays of escape stuff and pictures and stuff from East Germany..not many places to sit down tho so you can contemplate whats there. However they do need to get aircon as it was close and stuffy even at 8pm so I felt like a boil in the bag by the time I left. Needs a little updating tho . Well worth a visit.

“A look in the not so long ago history”
Reviewed 25 July 2014 via mobile

I was in Berlin when the wall was still around and remember going over to the East via Checkpoint Charlie. I remember the small place called "Haus am Checkpoint Charly". I did not go in then but this time I did. There are an overwhelming display of labels and pictures and lots of history is covered. Very interesting for sure but on a busty day it is hard to read it all and go throughout the entire museum. Still worthwhile to learn about the history of the wall etc.

“Put a Berlin Wall around this museum”
Reviewed 25 July 2014

Over-priced, pokey museum which hasn't been overhauled since the Berlin Wall came down. Too much detailed German text to read with awful English translations. No modern perspective on the events of the last 50 odd years. I wish I hadn't wasted 35 euros for 2 adults and a teenager on this. A tourist trap. Pity the interesting stuff can't be taken out and freshly presented. I asked for a full or partial refund and was refused.
