“Good value but little charm”
Reviewed 18 May 2012

We stayed here recently on the recommendation of colleagues in Berlin. Because we were staying for a few weeks the idea of an apartment hotel was appealing, and the location was convenient for our business - and the neighborhood felt like a "real" one with few tourists. If you're here to see the sights, however, you'll need to spend a fair bit of time on transit (S-bahn, U-bahn or bus) every day to get to the museums, churches, etc.

The hotel itself is clean and offers a modest continental breakfast buffet every morning. The room was adequate, if not terribly well lit, and we needed to request a power bar for our electronic gear (cheerfully supplied). However, if your computer doesn't have an Ethernet port, you're out of luck on connectivity unless you can get one of the few ground-level rooms that can pick up the wireless signal from the lobby.

The room includes a kitchen area with small fridge, range, dishwasher and microwave, as well as dish soap and tablets for the dishwasher. Laundry can be done in a laundry room in the basement; the machines take tokens available at the front desk (€5 for washer, €4 for dryer, which seemed expensive).

A good choice if this is the part of Berlin you need to be in and if you don't intend to spend much time in the room.

Room Tip: If you need a wireless connection rather than wired for your computer, ask for a ground-floor room.

We stayed in this hotel in April 2012. We had a great room, with all you’d need and expect in a room + some! It’s an Apart-Hotel so, we had a small kitchenette with fridge, microwave, cooker and even a dishwasher! The welcome pack even included a number of dishwasher tablets and also washing up liquid (which we don’t even get in our timeshare in Tenerife!!) so we were highly impressed. On top of that we had a large TV and even an iPod docking station and clock/radio, excellent for hearing my own music and charging my iPhone!

For what was on offer in this Apart-Hotel, I’d have expected to have paid much more. It was EXCELLENT value for money and I would definitely recommend this hotel. Continental breakfast is included in the price, as are hot drinks from the machine in reception. Nice to have a hot chocolate before going off to bed.

There’s also free internet connection in the room and a couple of computers in reception that are also free to use. I have an iPad so had to sit in reception to actually get WiFi but, that wasn’t a problem.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.

The only downside was that we were in a party of two rooms, one on the 4th floor and the other on the 5th and, for some reason we were totally forgotten by housekeeping!! We had to ask for clean towels. However, the reception staff could not have been more apologetic so, just to be sure, if you don’t get clean towels by the 2nd day, or your bins emptied etc. it’s worth chasing. I’m sure we’d have been forgotten for the whole 5 days if we’d not have said something. However, this did not detract from our enjoyment of this hotel. Definitely happy to recommend this Hotel.

Room Tip: There's a great bar and restaurant opposite called the QBA. It's a Cuban bar and had great...

We would like to point out to all portential guests who are reading this comment that this guest has stayend in one of our so called Club-Studios and therefore the breakfast was included and all the extras provided in the room like water, coffee and tea, iPod-docking station etc. were also included in the rate. Stayed for three nights and whilst I found this hotel OK it definately needs some work. In saying that, we did get a reasonable deal and from the evacuation map looks like we had the smallest room on the floor. Positives - its an apartment so having your own kichen is a real bonus. There is also a supermarket across the road which is really handy. They have a self service laundrette on site. Also have a coffee maker in the lobby which is free 24/7 and makes good coffee. Room for improvement - wifi - only available in lobby which is a pain. They have modems in the room so upgrading them to wireless modems wouldbe a minimal cost. Sitting in the lobby is a pain. They have the worst door closing mechanism. Everytime someone comes or goes, the door slams, all the glass shakes and it echos throughout the whole lobby- I really dont know how the reception staff put up with it. Again not a big cost to get rid of a huge annoyance. Finally the TV. An small old crt monitor with one english channel. I didnt find the location convenient either - close to the ritzy shops, but I dont shop there!

Stayed for only 1 night but was quite impressed considering the money we paid. The hotel is located only a few mins from the main shopping district and the self serve apartment holds all that is needed for a comfy stay. The apartment consisted of a small kitchen, which had the necessary utensils such as pots and cutlery. Rooms where nice and clean, but the age of the hotel can be seen though the outdated furniture and tv. Once again, staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel had a small supermarket right across the street, which was helpful for those who wish to cook rather than eat out.

We stayed in these apartments for 3 nights. They were really well equiped, you could self cater if you wish as the kitchen had everything you need to cook a meal. The apartments was clean, spacious and nice. Close to the main designer shopping centre in Berlin and within walking distance of the Zoo and railway stations. We walked to the main part of Berlin where the museums etc. are and it took about an hour. There are trains and buses near by. Loads of restaurants to walk to in this area. Breakfast was great, with a huge variety of food All in all a great place to stay in Berlin.

The best part: very good price.

Room Tip: The rooms facing Olivaer Platz are nice.

We stayed in the hotel for three nights in February 2012. I can warmly recommend this hotel to other Berlin first-timers; it is easy to access the hotel by bus no 109 from the Tegel (TXL) airport. Also, the connections to main tourist attractions work perfectly well, especially if you buy the day travel card (Tageskart) of the public transportation.

Breakfast was not included in our room price, but the kichen facilities available in the room and the grocery store cross the street made it easy to prepare one's own breakfast. The room was clean, comfortable and cozy.
