This hotel is located in West Berlin, far from most tourist sites but access to U-bahn (Adenauerplatz) and S-bahn (Halensee) is conveniently located as well as the buses on Ku'Damm. The front desk staff were all wonderful, easy to converse with and helpful. There are many restaurants and convenience stores within a stone's throw.

The rooms are simple and clean. Ive never been a fan of the twin beds pushed together and separate bed spreads. The smell of cigarette smoke permeates the hallways. Thankfully, the smell didn't make it into the rooms. The hotel is also quiet expect when guests are in the hallways. With no carpeting, the hallways are echo chambers.

My biggest complaint was with the so-called free wi-fi. The free wi-fi is complicated to log on to and only allows you to use 300MB of data per day for free. It then boots you off and forces you to pay. I would rather just pay up front and not deal with the frustration.

Its a good quality hotel and at 68 euros per night. it can't be beat.

Dear Motowninchapelhill,

Thanks a lot for your review of the Ku’ Damm 101 Design-Hotel. We are really happy, that you liked the location and our value for money. As the hotel is close to train and bus stations, you can actually get to all the important tourist attractions within minutes. The hotel is also located at the legendary Ku’Damm Boulevard, so you can find a lot of nice restaurants and stores close by.

Most of the rooms are non-smoking in our hotel, but we still have some smoking rooms on one floor. We are sorry, that you smelled smoke in the hallway.

If you have problems with logging in to our Wifi network, please let us know and the colleagues from reception will be happy to help. If you visit us next time and you require more data usage than 300MB per day, our business package might be interesting for you. For only 19€, you get parking, breakfast and unlimited wifi.

We would be very happy to see you again in our Hotel in Berlin.

Your Ku’ Damm 101 team

Inexpensive, clean and convenient. Staff responsive, helpful and friendly. Want to commend especially, Linda and Carina at the front desk and Jan and Mohammed at the bar. They were all great!!! The hotel is convenient to bus and U-Bahn line, as well as, great Italian and German resturants. Parking is under the hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms on the patio side are quieter.

This hotel was interesting. It is in a great area and despite my room being on the 4th floor overlooking the street it was quiet. You cannot hear any traffics noise in the rooms.

The staff on reception both during checkin and checkout were very friendly and helpful.

The rooms themselves are large but the bed was uncomfortable for me and has those irritating sheets on top that are common in German hotels in that you are essentially making the bed yourself. The bathroom was basic, very basic in my view.

Breakfast was okay but the choices were not great, it could do with having a much greater selection.

The main irritation were the lifts, kept waiting 10 minutes most occasions to get the lift.

Okay experience but probably won't return.

The hotel is new and beautifully designed, in a minimalistic style. we had a very spacious room on the 6th floor, facing the street - there isn't much noise during night hours and no noise at all when the windows are closed. Breakfast is very rich and tasty.
On the downside - the promised free wifi was very tiresome - a long logon procedure which has to be repeated whenever you come back to the hotel, and wifi is restricted to two devices per room. The front desk was not very helpful when we had some problems - they said there were always problems with iphones and ipads of Israeli guests, which was very strange as our device was bought in NY,,,anyway no help was offered to solve the problem. Eventually we succeeded to logon but it was not a nice experience.

Room Tip: not all the rooms have a/c which can be a problem in summer

Nice design with allusions on 70's. Friendly reception, clean rooms. I was upgraded to a better room with no additional charge. Bathroom is spacious and very conveniently planned. Downside is that there is no ventilation in room, which makes impossible to stay in this hotel in summer. Even I opened all 4 big windows no air came from outside.
You can get to hotel on foot either from Halensee S-Bahn station or from U-Bahn Adenauerplatz.
Ku'damm is perfect for shopping, eating, enjoying life as it was here in golden 20s of XX century.

We get a room in front, big size, nice vieuw, minimalistic design and minimalistic services too.
This hotel is not prepared for the summer of Berlin, the hit in the front rooms is terrible, and you cannot open de windows because the noise of the street (even in the 4 floor!). We wanted a ventilator but we receive something for the warm air, we asked for water to the room, and there is no room service. The first night was impossible to sleep. After long discussion with the reception, finally we get another room with air conditioning.
The description of the hotel is 3 star superior, but without according services. No frigo bar, no room service, not all the rooms has air conditioning, the security in bathrooms is not the best, ( no handles in the bath or panic alarm), no shampoo only soap. The standart category is what it is, and the following category the only upgrade is: air conditioning!

Room Tip: Not in front! ( they put the air conditioning for the rooms in the back... bad planning!

Dear Silandrina,

Thank you for your review of the Ku’ Damm 101 Design-Hotel Berlin.

The last couple of the days were unusually hot in Berlin but we hope that you enjoyed the city despite the heat wave.

We are sorry, that you couldn´t sleep on your first night. You did book a Standard Class Room, which does not have air-conditioning fitted. It says on our website as well as all other booking websites, that only our 64 Upper Class Rooms have air-conditioning.

As for the rooms without AC, we close the lightproof blinds to keep them as cool as possible during the day. For a more immediate cooling effect, we also provide free (non-heating) fans to our guests.

The Ku’ Damm 101 Hotel does have a minimalistic design concept and a young, unpretentious team but that does not make us comparable to a hostel. The hotel offers all the amenities, which make your stay relaxed and enjoyable. 3 spacious room types, free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, Lobby Bar with room service from 6am – 11pm, vending machines for snacks and drinks, a portable mini-fridge on request, an innovative breakfast buffet on the 7th floor with views of the city, an all-natural organic cosmetic series, concierge services, bathrooms with underfloor heating, in-room guests safe, satellite-TV with international channels etc…

We are happy that we were able to upgrade you for the remaining nights.

Best Regards

Your Ku’ Damm 101 Team
