I booked this apartment so long ago that I can't really remember what attracted me to it, but I'm glad I did - it was perfect for our needs. A very comfortable and fairly large one bedroom apartment in the old working class suburb of Friedrichshain in old East Berlin. Well away from any tourist circus, but within easy reach of almost all main attractions. It was a simple three stops on the tram to the central area of Alexanderplatz. The apartment has a full sized working kitchen with plenty of equipment and utensils, a sunken lounge area that is cosy and relaxing. a mezzanine area that can accommodate two further people if necessary, a separate bathroom/toilet and a private bedroom looking out onto a lovely garden.
Simone, the owner, met us at the apartment to let us in and hand over the keys etc. She is a delightful woman who went out of her way to make our stay really comfortable and enjoyable. The apartment also has quite a lot of information on Berlin, as well as games, books, magazines, TV, DVD, WiFi, and VOIP telephone. The apartment is also five minutes walk from the Volkspark Friedrichshain, a really lovely park, which is alive with people most days of the week and has several coffee shops and cafes within the park itself. The tram and subway are also only five minutes walk from the apartment. Berlin is one of the cheapest cities in Europe and the apartment represented excellent value for money. All in all we would heartily recommend this property to anyone visiting and staying Berlin.
