“Still marveling at how good Heidi's tour was!”
Reviewed 21 August 2014

I took my family of 7 to Berlin and had booked a 4-5 hour walking tour with Heidi. Three days before our tour, I asked if we could add another family of 5 that we were traveling with and she didn't hesitate to say yes. Heidi was early to meet us at our hotel and it only got better from there. She is a teacher and has studied how people think and interact and she put all of that (and her dog Daisy) to work for our enjoyment and education. she took us to all the highlights and everyone from my 13 year old to the parents were engaged and happy for 5 hours. you will not go wrong spending a half day with Heidi!

“Five Stars . . . And Then Some”
Reviewed 21 August 2014

We hired Heidi Leyton to be our guide to Berlin, and we were not disappointed. We were going to be in Berlin for one day as we were traveling by cruise ship and docking in Warnemunde, Germany; some distance from Berlin. Normally, we sign up for tours offered by the ship. However, the ship tours offered for Berlin did not cover all the things we wanted to see. I saw that Heidi Leyton was highly rated on Trip Advisor, so I decided to give Heidi a shot. It was an excellent decision. I communicated with Heidi via e-mail and phone and outlined a specific itinerary. Heidi Leyton provides recommended tours. But, in our case there were specific items that we wanted to see. Based on our list of items (which was aggressive for one day), Heidi put together a tour that included all of items we wanted to see. Also, Heidi purchased tickets in advance so that we would not waste precious time waiting in line.

When we docked in Warnemunde, Germany, we were met at the dock by a driver that Heidi had hired. Because it was a Sunday and light traffic, the driver gave us a driving tour of Rostock (very interesting) and took us to the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp via the Autobahn. Going by private vehicle turned out to be much faster than taking a train to and from Berlin (gave us two extra hours of sightseeing). We met Heidi at the concentration camp, of which Heidi gave an excellent tour. From there we drove into Berlin and visited the following (not necessarily in the order listed): Pergamon Museum, Neues Museum, Brandenburg Gate, The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, site of Hitler's Bunker, former Luftwaffe (Nazi Air Force) Headquarters, the Typography of Terror, and a stretch of original Berlin Wall, Checkpoint Charlie, Government Quarter, embassies from around the world, Gendarmenmarkt, the German and French Cathedrals and the Berlin Concert House, Bebelplatz and the memorial to the Nazi Book Burning, St. Hedwig's Cathedral, the German Opera House and Humboldt University, Neue Wache, a Prussian Guardhouse turned war memorial, Museum Island, Berlin Cathedral, and the former and future site of the Berlin City Palace, The Berlin Wall Memorial, The Victory Column, Potsdamer Platz and the Culture Forum, and one of the last remaining guard towers from the Berlin Wall.

Heidi provided detailed information on the sites visited and helped us to keep on schedule so that we would be sure to visit all the places on our list. We highly recommend Heidi Leyton and would hire her again in a heartbeat should we return to Berlin. Heidi made Berlin one of the most memorable ports (tied with St. Petersburg as the most memorable) we visited on the Baltic.

“Fun on the run”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

We had a short time in Berlin, since we were coming down from a cruise which stopped in Warnemunde and we wanted to see the Pergamon Museum on our own. Heidi was waiting for us when we exited the museum (with Daisy close at hand) and we set off for a tour of Berlin with an emphasis on Jewish sites. We walked and walked and talked and talked, and though we didn't see it all--how could we in such a short time?--we felt like we had made the most of our time. Heidi was charming and knowledgeable, and she took us to some of the greatest hits in Berlin and also some little-known sites which helped us understand this complicated city. She was a total professional and a total pleasure from start to finish. What a treat! We agreed that we'd like to come back and spend more time in Berlin, preferably with Heidi!

“A wonderful day exploring Berlin”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

Heidi,
Thank you so much for arranging for Dekel to be our private guide last week. He was waiting for us at Gendarmarkt with a smile on his face. We thoroughly enjoyed spending the day with him. He is very personable young man and has an incredible knowledge of Berlins place in history, knowledge that he is eager to share.
Just walking along the wall gave us a feel for the cities past. Dekel is a true historian and anyone who has him as their tour guide will come away with a great deal knowledge on events leading up to building the Berlin wall as well as how much Berlin continues to change after the wall has come down.
One of the unusual sites we enjoyed was the temporary panorama exhibit called The Wall by the artist Asisi. His life size canvas photos put us behind the Berlin wall - a very moving experience. Another stop Dekel suggested we make was to a wonderful outdoor restaurant for a delicious lunch Lutter & Wegner
Thanks again for making this memorable day possible

“Jewish tour of Berlin”
Reviewed 17 July 2014

We had an all day tour with Heidi, dog Daisy and driver Verner. Our day began with Verner meeting us at our cruise ship and driving us to meet Heidi and Daisy (a two hour drive). He was the perfect gentleman throughout our day, kind and interesting. As soon as we met Heidi we knew the day was going to be perfect. She is vivacious, knowledgeable, interesting and knew exactly what we wanted to see. We saw Jewish and non-Jewish Berlin. Words cannot describe Daisy, you must meet her yourself.
Heidi, daisy and Verner made our day in Berlin perfect.
