We spent 3 nights at the Ritz Carlton in Berlin and have a really lovely stay. The lobby is gorgeous and welcoming. The Christmas decorations were superb. Staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was beautifully appointed and elegant. Housekeeping brought in an extra bed for our daughter who was staying with us. Our bed was extremely comfortable with snuggly eiderdowns and multiple big pillows. The bathroom was large with lots of storage space which is always a welcome feature. The shower was marvellous with a rain shower head that had plenty of water pressure.

Our room was at the very end of the hall, so it was a rather long walk to and from the lift, but there was an ice machine half way between the two, so we didn't mind that much.

Drinks at the bar were quite expensive, but excellent. We never dined at the restaurants, so can't comment on them.

The location was also excellent, right by an underground station and close to lots of restaurants and the Sony centre. The European premiere of the new Hobbit movie took place on Saturday night and we could see all the action going on from our room. Exciting!!

Room Tip: I loved our room, except for the long walk. We were in 635.

Our most recent stay was fraught with the same missteps that our last Ritz stays have been in a variety of locations. It appears that cost cutting has not been kind in a number of areas.

From the reduced number of doormen (getting your own cab, opening your own doors and sometimes bringing up your own luggage)...to the beds (mattresses and linens - not to mention towels) were absolutely not treated to the same experience as our previous stay. We had numerous other issues which were addressed by management with care, concern and decisive action, but certain things in the rooms not being operational, poor quality towels, sheets and low-end amenities (in limited quantities) makes me yearn for the hotel of 5 years ago!

The Club employees are the true shining star at this property (again) and I would definitely recommend splurging for this upgrade.

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms were nicely appointed than lower floors.

I stayed at the Ritz-Carlton with a classmate while we were traveling around Europe. The location is excellent—you're a short walk away from some great restaurants, tourist destinations, and the Potsdamer Platz Station, so seeing the city is a breeze. The hotel itself has a wonderful bar, friendly staff, and the outstanding comfort and room quality you would reasonably expect from the Ritz-Carlton. Lady Gaga and Tom Hiddleston were also hotel guests during our stay, so it was definitely a memorable and interesting experience, to say the least.

The Ritz Carlton Berlin is located in the Potsdamer Platz and across the street from the Sony Center. The hotel is also conveniently located close to a metro station so exploring the city is an easy task.

I booked the room through Virtuoso, whose benefits include an upgraded room based upon availability, 4:00 PM late-check out, breakfast daily at Brasserie Dubrosses, and Club access. Normally, Virtuoso benefits will include a $100 food or spa credit at Virtuoso properties, including those participating in the Virtuoso program, so having Club access is a bonus. An offer is usually made at Ritz Carlton properties to upgrade to having Club access for at least a $100 per day, so this is a bonus.

As you approach the hotel, there are no less than three doormen to greet you. The front desk is to the right. Check-in was somewhat slow as the front desk agents take their time with each guest explaining all features of the hotel.

I was immediately recognized as a Ritz Carlton Platinum member and all benefits were explained. I was upgraded to a Deluxe Room with a view overlooking Potsdamer Platz.

Upon entering the room, the bathroom is located to the right. The bathroom is very large with a separate tub and shower. The toilet is enclosed with a glass door. There are two sinks with sufficient counter space. There are Ritz Carlton branded toiletries.

There is a large free standing closet along the hallway that leads to the bedroom.

Upon entering the bedroom, there is a luggage rack to the left along with a dresser, TV and coat hanger.

There is a small glass surfaced desk with plenty of room for getting some work done.

Next to the desk is a sitting area with ottoman and small coffee table.

There was a welcome amenity of macarons, which were delicious and a half bottle of Moet champagne.

The King bed comes with a ton of pillows and is super soft and extremely comfortable.

The light controls are conveniently located right next to the bed.

There ample outlets in the room which makes charging all electronic gadgets very easy. The air conditioner is not the best, as the room never got very cool. Based upon my experience, this seems to be the norm in Europe.

The Club is spacious with several booths and tables along with a lounging area. The Club attendants are pleasant and there to help. The food offerings are not great unfortunately. Sandwiches often contained hard and stale bread, as if they had been sitting out for a while. There was usually one hot option such as soup. The quality and quantity of food was definitely not enough to make a meal.

The breakfast buffet (38 Euros) at Brasserie Dubrosses was large and had many choices. Hot options included eggs benedict, pancakes, French Toast, bacon, sausage, beans and an omelet station. There are a wide variety of meats, smoked fish, and cheese, along with a plethora of different fruit and more bread choices than many bakeries. Other options included yogurt, pastries and museli.

Given its convenient location and service, I would definitely stay here again if traveling to Berlin. Although I don’t think the Club access is worth it if having to pay, booking through Virtuoso is almost a must given the great benefits.

My family and I had 4 wonderful nights at the Ritz. The hotel is conveniently located on Potsdamer Platz, and is walking distance from many of the top tourist destinations in Berlin. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. The rooms were spacious and extremely comfortable with top of the line appliances. There is a spa, but unfortunately I didn't have time to use it. The pool looked incredible, though.

We were on the club floor, which is definitely the way to go if you can. The club (which was located on the main floor while the original one was being renovated) was very comfortable and was always filled with food and drinks. We always ate breakfast there, and even sometimes stopped back for lunch and dinner. The food was good but not great, but it was really nice to always have the option to stop by the club to get a snack or relax before dinner.

Overall, the Ritz was one of the nicest hotels I've stayed at, and I will definitely be staying there against next time I'm in Berlin!

Room Tip: Ask for the club level!
