Visited the ritz for a meal which was good, with excellent service. But, what was outstanding is the bell desk staff, who were extremely helpful in a professional and courteous way. Really displayed the much talked of service of this chain. Could n,t help wondering why other hotels cannot do the same. Then again, this the Ritz Carlton. Thank you for being helpful to a Sri Lankan visitor to Berlin. Hope we will have Ritz in Colombo soon.

Unlike many other inner city, grand hotel rooms, the rooms in this hotel were very spacious. Every possible amenity was offered and the bathroom was exquisite. The staff was great and the breakfast buffet satisfied every want. The location, right near the SONY Center, is convenient to restaurants, the metro, shopping and many tourist attractions - Holocaust Memorial, Brandenburg Gate and the Wall.

This is the best hotel I have every stayed in.
The design is very traditional grand-hotel style with excellent service!
The location is superb, as you can reach the Brandenburg Gate wihtin 5 walking minutes, Checkpoint Charlie wihtin 10 minutes and everything else in next to no time, as the metro, train and bus station is right in front of the hotel. Around the corner is the Sony Center with lots of restaurants, shops and cinemas (although it lacks athmosphere there...).

The rooms are of reasonable size with a fantastic luxurious bathroom. The beds were very comfy and firm. The entire room is spotless clean. I cherished the fact that you hear no noise, neither from ohther rooms nor from the outside! However, it lacked a kettle and coffe/tea facilities.

The breakfast is marvellous due to the wast choice and quality of the food. It is served in a nice Paris-coffehouse-style room in the basement. Although the set up looked cosy and authentic, it felt hectic, as food and tables are dotted around the entire the room. Only downside: on one morning we had to wait for a table and were asked to have our breakfast in the bar lounge, which we refused; I think hotel guests should not wait for a table, then reservations for non-guest have to be reduced accordingly.

The lounge invites for relaxing and watching the world go by, while sitting in the comfy chairs around the fireplace, or having a very British Afternoon Tea or sipping a drink in the evening accompanied by wonderful Piano music.

The room prices are reasonable for what you get, however food and drinks are overpriced.

We stayed at the Berlin Ritz Carlton for a long weekend in February and had a lovely time in our 8th floor room. Sadly we only looked out on to the tower block next door so the view could have been a little more interesting.

A couple of glitches were put right quickly (tv wasn't working; the in-room safe was locked shut) and the staff could not have been more accommodating. The concierge helped sort out ballet tickets and recommend good restaurants. The valet parking team rustled up taxis from nowhere.

The hotel must have the most comfortable beds ever, with piles of feather-filled pillows and duvets ensuring a relaxed night's sleep. The marble bathroom was beautiful - double sinks are always uesful! - with wonderful water pressure in the shower, a glass doored toilet and lovely Asprey toiletries.

The buffet breakfast (which, unless you get it as part of the room cost, will set you back a steep €38 a head) was totally delicious. Eggs cooked to order, any way you like; pancakes; bacon; sausages; cheeses etc as well as the usual fruitsalads, cereals, breads and juices. We ate so much we usually went without lunch.

While Potsdamer Platz isn't the prettiest part of Berlin (the restaurants tend to be chains and the buildings are home to global corporates), it's in a great location for getting to other places. We managed to walk to most destinations (a brisk 30 minutes to Museum Island; 10 to the Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag; 5 to all the galleries and museums within the Kulturforum). Plus the Tiergarten is the hotel's back lawn.

Next time we want to do the Zoo and Aquarium as well as some more of the Second World War and Jewish museums. We'll definitely stay at the Ritz Carlton again.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room or one which looks towards the Tiergarten.

Wonderfull stay at The Ritz, booked for 4 nights in the week before christmas. Paying for wifi is a bit out of time in my opinion, hope they can take care of that.
Staff was very helpfull and friendly. The bathrooms are amazing!

Great location, helpful staff, super breakfast but as a five star deluxe hotel I expect less mistakes:

Room amenities never removed (who would eat six day old cakes?), mix up and double charge of laundry bill, room service staff ringing the bell even when "Do Not Disturb" lamp is burning.

Just not real five star service, unfortunately.

On a personal note: mattress far too soft to be good for any bad back, including mine.
