We stayed over New Year's Eve and this was a fabulous location steps away from checkpoint Charlie and the underground if you needed it, getting there from the airport was easy on the underground and it was a good spot if you wanted to walk to the main sights (we only used the underground for transferring to and from the airport, as we enjoyed walking the city).

The hotel rooms were a good size and the bathroom was good, there was a free minibar in the room which was much appreciated! Be aware that the rooms have feather pillows and duvets. I am allergic and had to ask to have them changed, which the hotel did for me on the second night, but it did leave me poorly on the first night,

Staff were helpful and friendly and the experience was a positive one!

Was staying there for a short while with my colleagues. Overall nice hotel, clean rooms, all facilities in order, nice breakfast (I would note a limited number of hot dishes, but for the rest - some fruits, cereals, yoghurts, bread and croissants, cold cuts etc - were OK), locaton close to Metro and Checkpoint Charlie (but in general I cannot say that this part of Berlin is attractive). There is a very nice reception guy (polite, helpful and professional), but the ladies definitely have to upgrade their client service skills. And another funny thing - they do not have rails for suitcases and we had to carry them up and down the stairs or use another elevator which they forgot to tell us about.

Room Tip: deluxe double rooms are more light and spacious as they have a balcony and street-view (other rooms...

Nice hotel, very clean throughout and staff were very helpful. The beds are really comfortable and bathroom facilities are excellent. Breakfast food options were adequate. Whilst the bar area is comfortable, the drinks were nearly double what you would pay in a regular bar. The biggest disappointment for me was that they allow smoking in the hotel bar. (There is a sign which is a disclaimer, but it not too obvious to see)
The location is very good, very close to Checkpoint Charlie and about a half hour stroll to the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag Building. Would recommend the Hop On, Hop Off tour and you can catch the bus at Checkpoint Charlie.

Good hotel in a good location next to the underground. Rooms are comfy although mattress on the soft side. Noise is low and reception staff are very helpful.

The TV is good with plenty of channels in different languages.

We happened to arrive 9am to the hotel and were told that our room is not ready before 2pm. We went for a long walk in the city and when we came back like ten past two, we were told in apologizing manner that we should still wait for another 30 minutes for our room to get ready. Ok, a cup of coffee nearby and after that we got a quiet, clean, nice and spacy room on the eighth floor with a nice view to a backyard of a local police station. We didn't spend too much time at the hotel, but were really generally satisfied with it. Friendly staff, decent and comprehensive breakfast, sufficient fitness room, great sauna, inexpensive but good bar and things in order throughout. Only our bed was just too soft for our taste. And the location is perfect, tube station Kochstrasse just 50 meters away, Checkpoint Charlie 200 meters away. I would recommend it to budget travellers of all age.

We checked in on Friday night and had a really good rest that night with the room being very clean and comfortable. The lady who was on night shift checked us in professionally and was very friendly.

On Saturday night we went back to the hotel at 9ishpm and saw that they have hired out their ground floor restaurant for a private function. The music was very loud but we thought we shouldn’t be affected with our room up on the 4th floor.

However, we heard the music clearly from our room though and especially for the bass, we could even dance to it. We thought it should finish anytime soon as it's getting late, so we just rested a bit, showered and got ready for bed. It was then 12midnight already and the music downstairs was still going strong.

We called the reception to complain about the noise and asked when it will finish. It turned out the hotel has no idea when it would finish, but the receptionist agreed to go and ask them to turn the music down. We then tried to get some sleep, and half an hour later the music was still going strong. We called the reception again and they said "they have just started celebrating the birthday" and could not tell them to turn it down. We said this is unacceptable and the lady apologized and offered the solution of putting us into a different room that's on the 6th floor and on the other side of the hotel. It wasn’t pleasant having to move to another room in our pyjamas at 12:30, but at least we did not hear any of those noise in the new room and we much appreciated this lady’s help (she’s the same girl who checked us in on Friday).

The next morning we went to the reception to check out. The receptionist was a grumpy man who did not even bother to greet us or look at us. We told him about the noise the night before and asked him about compensation. He just replied with a “no”. We tried to explain more and he just said “there is nothing we can do”. Then we said we will have to talk to the management and he just replied “you go speak to the management then”.

Overall, it was a clean and good hotel at a good location, but the staff is terrible aside from the lady who was on night shift. They also admitted that this noise problem from their function room happens from time to time and there is nothing the staff can do too. This is very bad management by the hotel indeed and it is like a lottery for you whether they have rented out their restaurant on the days you stay there!

Room Tip: As high up as possible and away from the restaurant side to avoid any noise in case they rent it out...

Excellent hotel near the bottom of Berlin's main commercial thoroughfare, and a stone's throw from Checkpoint Charlie. Rooms were modern and very clean. Easy walking distance to several U-Bahn stations, and most of the interesting sites in the Mitte and Kreuzberg districts - Checkpoint Charlie, the Haus am Checkpoint Charlie, Topografie des Terrors, Jewish Museum, Unter den Linden, Potsdamer Platz, Gendarmenmarkt, Brandenburg Gate etc are all near at hand, and Museum Insel, the Fehrnseturm, Berliner Dom and Tiergarten are just a little bit further, certainly walkable, although the proximity of the U-Bahn station means this isn't really necessary.

We were bit apprehensive as we booked this as a Top Secret hotel through lastminute.com, but very pleasantly surprised. Free wifi was nice, and staff were professional and very courteous. Best of all - complimentary minibar with free beer! Would definitely stay again.

Can't comment on the breakfast as we ate at a cafe just up Friedrichstrasse; shockingly cheap!
