“Berlin central”
Reviewed 30 May 2014 via mobile

A very centrally positioned hotel in Berlin Mitte ideally located for easy access to the ubahn system and all the city attractions. Cleanliness is outstanding throughout, rooms are well thought out with incredibly comfortable beds and probably the best equipped bathroom anywhere although take your own toiletries. Showers which are easily controlled and sustain the water temperature, everything to hand inc a wall mounted hairdryer. Varied choice for breakfast with English speaking waiting staff on hand. Well equiped gym for those who want an energetic holiday. Overall a very nice clean comfortable hotel. (bar is accessible directly from the hotel, not via the street as stated in a previous review.)

My family and I stayed at the Angleterre for 9 days on both business and pleasure (my business, their pleasure). We thoroughly enjoyed the hotel primarily due to its central location close to many attractions, clean and quiet rooms, readily available free street parking, and great breakfast included. The room rate was reasonable, especially compared to U.S. hotel rates in large cities. The staff was helpful, friendly and spoke excellent English. We couldn't have been happier. We had two adults and 3 teenage sons all in two adjoining rooms.

This hotel is clean, comfortable and very conveniently located to both public transportation and major Berlin sightseeing. Although it is listed as a four-star hotel, it really is more of a three-star establishment. Americans should not come expecting the amenities they're accustomed to at home, but those who have stayed in 3-star European hotels before will be quite satisfied. (The only toiletries provided are a shower cap that falls apart the first time you attempt to use it and shower gel in a wall-mounted dispenser.) Service at the front desk was efficient and helpful, if not particularly friendly (chalk that up to the German temperament.). We passed on the 17-Euro breakfast buffet and found good, light breakfast fare at nearby cafes for much less money. The unimaginatively titled Das Restaurant was empty or near-empty the entire time we stayed, although we found the food and the service both to be quite good.

Two caveats: 1) the hotel is quiet, so long as there is not a private party taking place in the downstairs ballroom. We arrived on a Sunday evening while a wedding reception was in full swing, and the pulsating dance floor beats could be felt even in our fifth-floor room - fortunately, the party ended before we were ready to sleep. Might be a good idea to avoid weekend stays if you want a peaceful night. And 2) my friend and I shared a double room with twin beds - by far the smallest beds I've ever seen offered to adult travelers, and I've done a lot of budget hotels in Europe. If you're tall and/or have an ample physique it will be an uncomfortable sleep.

Room Tip: If you're there on a weekend or when a private party is taking place, get a room on the highest...

A good hotel near the U-Bahn station so very easy to make your own way from the Airport, quick and efficient check in service and lovely rooms, the Bed was to die for hugely comfortable with great pillows, good free WiFI and mini bar was included in our stay. Breakfast was a bit bland and tables not cleared very well, but would not put me of staying again.

Staff were really friendly. At there, you can enjoy the free minibar (only if the staff give you the coupon) and also free WIFI. I consider it as the good hotel with good service, great location, and close to the public transportation.

Room Tip: Make sure that you get a coupon of free minibar from the staff, then you can enjoy it. PS. I saw gue...

We spent 4 nights here in March, which gave us plenty of time for Berlin sightseeing and a visit out to Potsdam. Hotel was easy to get to from Schönefeld airport and very centrally placed The room was quiet and bathroom spotlessly clean. The beds were so comfortable!. We found the breakfast great with a very wide selection and this kept us going well into the day. Staff were helpful. Sightseeing bus stops just up the road by Checkpoint Charlie. Reichstag definitely worth booking in advance. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
