on a short visit to Berlin with 5 friends. Arriving at 4 am on a Sunday staff could not be more helpful ! our room was basic as expected but very clean with bins being emptied daily. The bathroom was modern and again clean. location of this hostel was ideal for both the sites and night life that we wanted to see and experience. Would certainly recommend and use when in Berlin again !!

Spacious rooms, beergarten, very central :)
A beehive for travelers and students
The artistic village Kunsthaus Tacheles is just around the corner
and most of what Berlin's nightlife has to offer on walking distance from here.
We booked the room in advance so it was very affordable,
we didn't expect that much value and benefits for the money we spend.
I recommend!

We had a nice stay in this hostel. Booking in front is advised: we paid 11,50 a night by booking before, 22,- if we wanted to extend our stay. The bathrooms were really great and the rooms were good: quite some space and a locker per person. Also the bar in the hostel is a very nice place to start your evening. There are quite some nice bars around the corner northeast from the hostel. Only downside were the not so helpful receptionists. The atmosphere is nice, but a bit alternative, which you have to like if you stay here.

Room Tip: Book before you go, it saves a lot of money!

I got there early in the am, before check in. I had to pay a deposit of 10 euros to lock up my bags for the day. It was refundable but.....I wasn't always traveling with cash. Then I was charged another (refundable) 25 euro key card deposit. Nowhere did I read prior to have all this extra money on me for deposits. My room was ok, I think it was 20 beds. The showers and toilets were clean but lacked any kind of hooks or places to put towels, toiletries or clothing. They closed down the courtyard by 10pm but that simply moved the crowd into the overheated bar area and hallway. The wi-fi only worked right next to the speakers, where music BLARED at all hours, so that kinda stunk. I'd probably not stay here again, but it was decent enough to stay the one night.

Recently spent a few nights in this hostel in a private twin room. Room was spacious and clean but got very humid even with the windows open, air con would have been appreciated. Shower inside the room had no frosted glass and was facing in to the room meaning whoever you are sharing with would have to avert their eyes if you wanted a shower in privacy! 3 communal toilets per floor which were always fairly clean but sometimes involved waiting to use them. Rules are pretty strict, no noise after 10 pm, no visitors allowed in rooms, no food or drinks allowed in rooms, etc. - the fines for breaking any of these were hefty.

The staff varied dramatically, some were friendly others were very rude. The bar service was appalling, staff would take their time to come and serve you, gave up several times in favour of the shop down the road as it proved much quicker. No internet in the rooms and very limited internet at reception, which may have been a push to get people to use the onsite computers at a cost. Check in was very strict, don't expect to be able to access your room before 2 pm.

Prices at the bar were reasonable (if you managed to get served) and there was a barbecue each evening selling Bratwurst for 1,50 and beer/cocktails. Outside seating area was often full by early evening but the strict 'no noise after 10 pm' rule meant everybody had to retreat indoors after this to keep the noise down for their neighbours, which is understandable yet far from ideal in the mid summer heat.

All in all an average hostel - strengths being cleanliness and location, weaknesses being customer service, internet access and strict rules.

I do not recommend this hostel, there are many better choices in Berlin. The staff was mixed, some were very nice and helpful, others had major attitude, all of them looked the same. However, the manager is absolutely insane and you will see her constantly berate her employees and/or people staying at the hostel; great business practice there...

The bar is chill, they have Berlinger cheap on tap (but constantly run out), the internet is absolutely atrocious and goes out every 5 minutes, and there is no internet in the rooms, only the common area. Outside seating area shuts down at 10pm and then they close all the windows to the common area to keep sound down, which leads to immense humid smelly heat.

Prices range dramatically; you can go on the website and it will be 14 euros a night, then look 2 hours later and its 19 euros, and then 4 hours later its 12 euros.

Location is pretty good in the Friedrichstrasse and its only 5-6 blocks from that main station, room was clean, but the lockers are a total joke and had obviously been broken into many times prior. You could reach your hand right into them even when locked.

Finally, the bathrooms were constantly dirty, and you have to keep turning the shower back on every 5 seconds to keep water pressure.

2 out of 5 stars. Unless you are desperate to have a bar @ your hostel, look elsewhere.

I really liked its proximity to Friedrichstrasse with all its restaurants, shops and ATMs. The hostel itself was pretty busy yet nice. We met many incredible people there and wished we could stay longer. Very clean, rather cheap and simply great! It was quite problematic when it was hot outside, as it meant our room was boiling hot. Except for that I am glad we chose to stay there also because the drinks at the bar were cheap and staff was very helpful.
