Constructed in 1945, this sobering memorial was built to commemorate the around 2,000 fallen Soviet troops that were buried here. But beyond that, it is a beautiful representation of Socialist Realism and Socialist Classical Architecture. So, for those that are fascinated by the Cold War, this is definitely a must see. The presence of T-34 tanks and ML-20 152mm gun-howitzer artillery pieces are also a plus.
The memorial is also really easy to get to. It's located in the Tiergarten, somewhat near the US Embassy, which is itself located near Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag.
