“Much better than expected!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 August 2014

I recently spent 5 nights at Hotel Indigo Alexanderplatz and I absolutely loved it! It wouldn't have chosen this hotel to stay at, as the bright colours in the photos put me off a bit, but we had trawled through all the hotels in Berlin and this was my partners choice so we went with it.

I had read a review suggesting you ask for a courtyard room to get away from any road noise, so we followed the suggestion, and the receptionist was happy to accommodate us but did mention that courtyard rooms were slightly smaller than a standard room. We asked how much extra it would be to upgrade and she said 10 euros per night so we queried if we could be shown both size rooms to see if we were bothered about upgrading.

We were shown the smaller courtyard room first, and it was lovely (beautifully decorated so I'm glad I didn't let the 'bright colours' put me off!), but it was pretty small so we cheekily asked to be shown the upgrade and there was no choice - I would've happily paid more than 10 euros extra per night for it! The bathroom was much bigger, with a beautiful walk in shower, and the bedroom had a sofa area, whereas the previous room could only really fit in the bed! The bed was also much bigger (I had the best nights sleep I think I've ever had)

We were really impressed with how easy it was to upgrade, and how friendly the staff were about showing us to both rooms. We had also forgotten an adaptor and I queried at reception if they had any we could buy, which they didn't but they did have an adaptor we could borrow free of charge, which we returned upon checking out.

I am unable to comment on the food, as we didn't eat at the hotel, but we did enjoy a few drinks (I really enjoyed my moscow mule!) in the hotel bar, which is beautifully done up but a tad quiet!

One other perk of the hotel was that they had a couple of sky channels in English, including two movie channels and a sports channel, so that was a real perk as I had read that most hotels didn't offer English channels. Wifi was also free, you could pay to upgrade to a faster wifi but we were fine with the free option.

The hotel is really close to Alexanderplatz station, although we walked most places during our stay - it takes about 30 minutes to walk to Brandenburg and it's a lovely walk past Hackescher Mark, Museum Island and past Friedrichstrasse along the beautiful river Spree.

Room Tip: If you think the room seems a little small, ask how much it is to upgrade - the room was almost twic...

Myself and three friends have just returned from a 4 night break in Berlin. On arrivals we received complimentary vouchers for beer from the bar which was lovely. The rooms were double beds which was fine. The bathroom products were Avedo - nice!! Tea/coffee/ fridges in all rooms. The hotel is excellent - very clean - and staff v friendly. One day we had sore feet and were tired and then found Energy Chocolate Bars under our pillows - nice touch! We didn't have breakfast as we paid for Room only. The Galleria shopping complex (like John Lewis) does a great value breakfast on top floor. Hotel is v central - tram outside takes you to Hackershmkt and the Alexanderplatz train station is in walking distance (ideal for those travelling from Berlin Sch Airport). On my next visit to Berlin I'd definitely stay in this hotel again

It doesn't happen often that you stay at the hotel and there is nothing you can whine about. Well this is one!

We stayed for 2 nights in the end of July. Arrived by car and were able to park right in front of the hotel (which was only 2 euro more per 24 hours comparing to the Q-Park Alexanderplatz). Cheers to the front desk staff who were able to provide us with many coins for the parking machine :)

Check-in went smooth and we got a nice room on one of the top floors with a view towards Alexanderplatz. We were also offered a beer coupons for the hotel bar which we used with pleasure later that day.

Room is decent size, very clean, and you can store your suitcase under the bed if yours is as big as ours. Bed was very comfy and the pillows... well, my boyfriend said he want to steal one as it was the best he ever encountered!

Hotel location is very good as both Alexanderplatz U-bahn and S-bahn stations are within 3 min walk and its a good starting point for exploring the city. Yet, hotel has very good soundproof windows so you won't hear a thing from the streets below.

Breakfast was very good, plenty to choose from.

Next time we come to Berlin there will be no picky hotel choosing, Indigo has got it all!

The hotel is located in Alexanderplatz and near the happening places. You could walk to the museum islands and the other attractions.
The room was clean and bed was comfortable. It has a fancy decoration.
The breakfast was good.
In my opinion the only problem was the view of the room. It didn't have a good view and our windows opened to the street which had not a pleasant view.

Finally, I recommend this hotel to everyone.

I personally would not stay at this hotel again. The entire stay was unremarkable and lacked the strength to leave a lasting impression.

Everything was tiny: the lifts, room, shower, bathroom; lobby seating area. It did not feel 'boutique', more prefabricated in miniature. In the room, it was a challenge to manoeuvre luggage around the bed, which filled the large majority of the space in the room. If any reader is a sufferer of claustrophobia, I would recommend either staying elsewhere or booking a room category which has more square metreage - as the standard room would likely prove troubling.

Cleanliness was good; the breakfast offering was about average.

In honesty, this is the type of hotel I like least: I would rather stay somewhere exceptional or somewhere poor where there is at least scope for things to be improved by my next visit.

Looking at the rates for this hotel, one would be better off staying at a nearby competing hotel such as the Park Plaza or Radisson, which are the same price or cheaper and offer larger rooms. If it is not necessary to stay in the locality, then the clusters of hotels around Tiergarten and Zoologischer Garten offer similar rates with much bigger rooms.

A great hotel in a central location. The hotel had a great feel with avant garde décor as you would expect in Berlin. The room was very clean and the staff were efficient and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.

My wife and I just spent 4 nights in Berlin. Wow what a city and the people were fantastic. We took the TXL bus from Tegel (no problem) bought 2 x Berlin Welcome Cards and arrived at the hotel in 40mins. Finding the hotel no problem 10 mins from the bus stop at Alexanderplatz.

Lisa on the front was very helpful advising us on a couple of restaurants which we in fact went to. Lisa gave us excellent directions also using U and S Bahn trains. We had booked a suite and were on the 10th Floor with gr8 views of the city and TV tower. Astrid one of our servers at breakfast was pleasant and always smiling. In fact the staff at the Indigo all deserve a mention think it was Carsten and his colleague on the front desk both also helpful.

The room was spacious and gr8 shower. Be aware you can be seen taking a shower or sitting on the toilet ha ha ( so quirky) really. Our only thing we would say is please please Indigo invest in better pillows as they are too soft and we had to ask housekeeping to change them to smaller firmer ones other than that fab stay and we cannot wait to go back next year.

p.s It was also great to meet the GM Mr. Dreyer who invited us to take coffee with him upon check out......... Nice touch and here is a man who is obviously passionate about the hotel and taking care of guest's well done!!.

Room Tip: The higher the floor the better the views!
