Wow! Huge room 30ft window and a South facing balcony imac TV in each room, great food, great bar, original Horst, j H Lartigue photographs on the wall, 3 mezzanine reading areas filled with Art, Architecture & photography books.. Stunning place to stay with helpful staff too.. The building may have a dubious past, but that's in the past.. Shame the gym us do small but at least there is one.

Dear Guest,

Yes we do feel that we are certainly one of the best hotels in Berlin and thank you for sharing your positive experience. It has taken a lot of time and positive energy to create this unique boutique hotel and we are always thrilled when we get guests who appreciate the attention to details.
Indeed our gym is a little on the small side but we hope that the machines were able to provide a comprehensive work out, but we also are right next to the wonderful Tiergarten park which offeres one of the best running routes in Berlin!

We hope to welcome you back very soon

With kind regards

This was a surprise gift from my boyfriend for my 30th birthday, and what a brilliant surprise!
It is a beautiful boutique hotel. Our room over-looked the Tiergarten park, had beautiful high ceilings, a wonderful rain shower and good sound system. We stayed two nights and will definitely be heading back to Berlin.
We had drinks at the hotel bar on the friday night and enjoyed listening to the fantastic live jazz band; highly recommend going even if you aren't staying at the hotel for the live music on a friday. The cocktails are lethal and delicious.
The Saturday we ate in The Casual dining; it was excellent. The wine list is never ending and the 'Tabla' sharing dish with Iberican cold cuts and cheeses was excellent and plentiful! My one comment would be that the DJ music from the bar (there is no door separating the two) was so loud in the restaurant that it was a little difficult to have a conversation.
There is a lap pool and sauna which were perfect for relaxing after cycling all around the city both days. You can hire these from the hotel for approximately EUR15 per day, they are extremely sturdy (especially if you are used to a road bike), and we used these every day. No need to take public transport.
The service was great and the staff are helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Berlin.

Dear Guest,

We are very happy to read that you enjoyed your birthday weekend at our hotel so much. Thank you for sharing this experience and seems that you were really able to benefit from all our facilities. Thank you for pointing out that the music was too loud, I have shared this with the team.

We do hope to welcome you back before your next birthday!

Fantastic old building with carefully designed interior. Our room was in the old part of the building and had at least 4 m high seling and an imaginative floor plan. The breakfast room had an interesting view of the Zoo. The staff was ever so helpful and accommodating and even though there had been a mistake made by the booking agent, no reservation had in fact been made, we were pampered with on the house in the bar until this was solved. The area is not Berlin's hot spot but you can get anywhere fast with a cab and the afternoon run in the around the corner Tiergarten is hard to top.

Close to large park but near to Berlin centre. Room top quality. Breakfast buffet one of the best I have seen. Staff very hospitable. Nice bar in the evening with good choice of wines. Price very reasonable for the quality.

Room Tip: Bathroom can be separated from bedroom with a sliding partition which is not obvious.

Not sure what it says about me, but the fun I remember most about this hotel is waking up and having a fabulous view of the zoo. Ostriches running around displaying their feathers and laying eggs; springboks springing; guineafowl being cute and generally getting underfoot; emus, llamas and elands lurking...
The zoo view almost made the room irrelevant, apart from the incredibly comfortable bed, full length windows, sliding bathroom divider thingy, and lots of hidden cupboards with chocolate, popcorn and crisps.
Nice bar with funky wire giraffes and gorillas.
Breakfast good, but overpriced at E35.
Spa pool a bit cold and limited; sauna etc fine.
Great décor generally throughout.
"Healthy" walking distance to the centre of Berlin, and several buses bring you back.
Bit of a splurge, but loved Das Stue!

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the zoo!

Beautiful building, in beautiful suburb (next to Tiergarten) with nice layout where it is easy to find privacy. Welcoming and comfortable lobby layout with some great design pieces (animal themed since the zoo is their neighbour:)
Rooms also designed that way (only 5 rms on the 4th floor where I stayed), so you don't feel everyone is on top of you or you're staying in a box (mine had windows on both sides). Clever design and layout...but you will need to explore the room a little to fully reveal everything. Understated, modern room design with excellent connectivity (touch controls for lighting and power and controls from bed) with iMAC setup.
I did not dine in the evening, but we had an informal group get together in the lobby with finger food. A bit on the average side. Although pleasant, helpful service. Breakfast a little on the expensive side unless you plan to indulge on the continental spread (€25).
Easy and close access Tegel Airport (15-20min) and other attractions/destinations.

Gosh, we've had the best time here. I'm writing the review from the lovely bar lounge , where locals gather for a glass of wine with friends. Breakfast was sumptuous and there were indulgent as well as healthy options. It's right next to the Spanish Embassy and the beautiful paths of the Tiergarten park. The zoo, which looks good, is right against the back of the property. We walked to great shopping at KaDeWe. We could also walk to the Bradenburg Gate. It's a bit far from the U, though. Staff was kind and attentive, helping us with dinner reservations, muddy shoes, tickets, directions, etc. room was very very cool, with bedside push button shades from the skylights. Lots of Apple connections in the room, big tub and rain shower and bidet ( we had a junior suite). I highly recommend Das Stue. PS it used to be the Danish Embassy.

Room Tip: You can ask to overlook the zoo, which might be fun.
