We’re foodies and have lots of experiences on international food tours. We do them almost everywhere we travel. It’s a great way to see parts of a city one wouldn’t normally visit while sampling tasty bits of the local cuisine. Bastian’s Berlin Food Tour was excellent. After an initial hiccup of not easily finding the starting point, we cannot speak highly enough of the thoroughness of the tour, the research Bastian has clearly put into where he takes you and the fun which he makes tasting some pretty foreign sounding foods taste.
Thin slices of 18 year old cow. Wurst made from some unspeakable innards. Berliner cakes oozing with jam which put Dunkin’ to shame. Chocolate infused with rose petals. A coffee tasting lesson followed by a taste of the strongest stuff ever. All in all we sampled in excess of fifteen widely varied tastes. As we walked between spots Bastian pointed out Berlin’s omnipresent street art, stumble stones, the shiny brass markers set into the sidewalk memorializing Holacost victims and architectural remains of prewar Berlin.
