We tried to go here, as I live 5 minutes away and two friends were visiting. Big mistake. As mentioned by the previous reviewers, the door staff were utterly abysmal, telling us that "there were too many guys already" inside the club, despite the fact that there were big groups of girls queuing behind. They later proceeded to let another trio of (German) men in who were all drunk, unlike the three of us, and wanting to buy drugs, which I suspect they did off the male member of the door staff. The door policy seems to be erratic, with no rhyme or reason. Unfortunately, this is why door staff get a bad name; the ones at Renate act as if they are superior, lay hands on you to block your entry, refuse to discuss the reasons behind their questionable decisions and even the locals who were also turned away stated that these people were a disgrace to the general demeanour of Berlin, which, other than this hideous experience, we have all found to be a most welcoming and friendly city. Please please avoid this place at all costs; there are far better places in this wonderful city and you don't ever need to be treated like a second class citizen here, those times have long gone. Unfortunately, I think the management are too arrogant to take any of this on board, given that there has been no change in the situation since previous negative comments.
