I went with a group, and we were all treated terribly.

- We were promised free Wifi, but had to pay.
- Some of us were charged over 100 eur for supposedly "ruining a wardrobe door." They were not even allowed to go in the room and see what they meant.
- The shower in my room was broken - it was a cheap shower curtain which fell down the first time one of us touched it. It was not fixed, only put back up to fall down again. They even wanted to charge us money for ruining it.
- The room did not have a safe.
- One person in our group was ill and needed to stay a few hours extra before our flight left, and was charged 75 eur for it.
- Because they did not have enough space in their luggage room, they charged us extra for keeping our luggage in a different room.

This hotel with scam you, stay away from it!

The only plus was the breakfast - the people working in the kitchen were extremely friendly and the breakfast was nice. I think this hotel needs some new owners.

Additionally, the stairs were worn down / shabby, there was one elevator that seemed dangerous - very old and slow and with no air inside, the halls were dark and creepy, and one person in our group got something valuable stolen - FROM HER ROOM.

My two out of five rating for this hotel is for the free breakfast that they serve and the fact that it wasn't awfully dirty. However, in general, the hostel/hotel was scary, dark, not completely clean and didn't even have free wifi. They have a computer in the lobby that takes 20minutes to load a page and that's about it. At the beginning of our stay here we didn't even see any other guests. spooky!
Overall, there are nicer places to stay in Berlin than this for the price.

Terrible experience, dirty everywhere, no change of towels, dirty cups and glasses. Ants and small flies in the room. Lousy breakfast and extremely poor service. Simply old and worn. Make sure when you will open the window, suddenly you are standing with the window in your hand! NOT HABITABLE! Not free wifi!

Poorly furnihsed rooms, dirty corridors and showers. Seems to be more 2** than 3***. Unfriendly staff who makes you troubles just because they can do so (Czech speaking man with dark hair). Good location.

I did not give this company my credit card details. Nonetheless, they managed to obtain it from a third party and then proceeded to charge me 90% of the hotel room when I canceled more than a week in advance. Yeah, maybe they have it in their small print, but it is still a scam. They don't give you the details until after you're committed to the booking.

The fact is they have obtained and charged my credit card without my authorization. BEWARE!

Dear Sirs,

First of all we are astonished about receiving this „rating“ (with all-round lowest possible scores) when the customers readily admit they didn’t even stay at our house! Clearly against the rules of this website, but demonstrates nicely how ratings on tripadvisor are reviewed internally before publishing.

As well, we have no record of a cancellation fee being charged to Zürich, Switzerland in the last few months. The name “Schafeskind” is unknown to us and we have no communication records about this alleged cancellation fee or any dispute about it. We assume that writing this “revenge rating” in English was probably done to enhance the damaging effect to our business. It’s a bit sad to see that that tripadvisor steadily enables such anonymous abuse.

To show that we have nothing to hide and add some transparency about our handling of credit card data and eventual charges: all credit card data, without exception, that are given as guarantee during the booking are transmitted to the hotel by the various booking agencies together with the booking. This is the same practice with all booking agencies and even all hotels in the world. The allegation expressed in the “rating” that we use some third parties to gather credit card data is conspiratorial nonsense. As well, the terms and conditions are clearly stated on all booking portals and are mailed together with every written offer that leaves our office.

Where our business practice may differ (for the advantage of the customers!) is that with bookings for our rebated cash rates we don’t charge anything in advance, but merely check the data for validity. Credit card numbers may be cancelled by banks, stolen or even just made up, and in practice a certain percentage really is. The only time we actually do charge something to a credit card given as guarantee for a cash rate booking is in the case of cancellation or no-show charges, when the guests are not here in person to pay their dues. Again, this is what every hotel in the world will do and not dubious in the slightest way. Otherwise, what would be the point of making a guaranteed booking?

Well, thank you very much for checking in with tripadvisor and catching up with the latest gossip. We hope your time was well-spent and you’ve learned something new and exciting today.
