I've been here many times and have tried almost everything on their menu with resounding pleasure - they do not disappoint!
The location is good, just two tram stops away from Alexanderplatz on the M2 and literally right in front of the tram stop Knaachstrasse (next to Emmanuel Church). It's pretty central and in a nice area of Prenzlauer Berg, close to many shops and bars right around the corner. The ambiance is nice, clean and classic. There's some soft, fresh, warm bread and sometimes garlic toast to munch on upon arrival, and the barmaid/partner makes a mean cocktail! Try the aperol sour or the pretty pink cosmo in a gigantic martini glass to start. As for wine, I love their primitivo.
The appetizers are delicious and a good portion. I would recommend the bruschetta variety, which is a twist on the classic, with a nice mound of fresh salad in the center. The four varied pieces are: classic tomato, salmon and cucumber, gorgonzola and pear (so good!), brie and salami. It's really creative and the balance of sweet and savory is just perfect. There is also a seasonal pumpkin parmigiana appetizer that is to die for, but obviously, they won't have that year-round, so ask about it if you're visiting between October-December!
Now, the entrees. The tagliolini al tartufo, is a fresh pasta dish with Norcia Trüffel and nutt butter. It's rich, creamy and yummy. Pennette puttanesca is great is you like a little Roman flare. It's tagliolini with olives and tomatoes, lightly flavored with anchovies. Just flavorful enough, not too salty. The tagliata classica is also very good, tender steak pieces cooked to medium, stacked on top of a fresh bed of salad with sliced parmesan. If you're in the mood for meat, this is a great option and you can choose to have it with classic dressing or Norcia Trüffel.
Dessert! Just pick one, you won't be sorry. If you need a little nudging, go for the chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. The cake comes with a soft, moist center and it melts in your mouth... nom nom nom...
One caveat: the menu changes from time to time so there's always a chance that the aforementioned dishes many not be available. But from what I've seen, the changes just mean differently savory, so order away!
Buon appetito :)
