“Nice hotel”
Reviewed 18 November 2013 via mobile

Very nice hotel. We had two double rooms with connecting door. They were huge! The breakfast was great, reception very helpfull. Car park under the hotel. Next to the hotel is a vapiano, good pasta's and pizza's if you don't want to go out. Only downfall, the pool/welness was under construction. We didn't know....

Stayed here recently on a four day business trip to Berlin. I stayed in a Club Level room on level 10. I did not stay in a suite only a standard club level room. I was at the hotel for a conference. I found the size of the room excellent and very comfortable for a 4 day stay, the mini bar options were good, full wifi was available for every device i had at no extra cost. The club lounge offers a more discreet and quiet breakfast option than the main restaurant. Whilst their offerings are limited regarding buffet you can order whatever eggs you want etc ala carte and they take about 5 mins to arrive. Of an evening there are complimentary cocktails and fingerfood also in the club lounge.

The hotel also has an outstanding wet and dry sauna which i really enjoyed most afternoons.

The only downside for me is that the security keys are required to use the lift to get to level ten, probably twice a day i had to get the key re-coded as they stopped working which was quite frustrating.

Room Tip: id spend the extra money to get a club room, nicer view and more private area for breakfast

Stayed for two nights at the Concord hotel for a business function. Reception staff is very friendly and professional. The hotel has a nice atmposhere. The business facilities were very good. The location at the K'damm is superb. The room was okay including a minibar but unfortunately without an ironing board and ironer: there is a rather expensive ironing service though. Nice bar area. Breakfast and lunch were good as well. Major drawback was the lift capacity: only three lifts which is completely insufficient when large groups come out of their meetings.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Close to all the shops and a stones throw from the metro. Will stay here again. Very clean. As with any city centre hotel the breakfast wasn't cheap and we decided to use tripadvisor for find a good breakfast restaurant.

Great service, lovely room, modern amenities, weak restaurant. Located in a shopping area, not far from the zoo. Near good public transit. The restaurant aspires to imaginative cuisine, but the results don't seem to have much flavor, or go together very well. Concierge and desk staff are quite friendly and helpful. Get to know the public transportation system early. It looks complicated but service and signage are quite good. Everything you see in Berlin is newly buyilt. The architecture is fabulous. The symphony hall and the Gemald Gallery nearby are musts.

Stayed here for 3 night break. Wonderful location for the 'posh' shops, though this does make the surrounding bar and restaurants expensive. Easy to get on the 109 bus from Tegel airport. Also close to ubahn links so ideal for exploring the city. Breakfasts, as many have said, are superb, but expensive of 28 euros. We didn't intend to eat breakfast in, but were offered half price deal at check in - which made them fantastic value for money, everything you could possibly think of is available, fresh and well topped up. The pizza/pasta restaurant on the corner next to the hotel is amazing - cooked in front of you fresh to order, vibrant and a great way to pass an evening. All the hotel staff are very welcoming and helfpul. If we returned to Berlin wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Bathroom was immaculate, spacious and well equipped. Beds are on the hard side, but therefore suited us very well.

Room Tip: We asked for the best room available - were given 401 which had a great corner window giving a large...

This was my second stay in the Concorde Berlin. Compared to last time (which was a couple of years ago) I was very much disappointed and I will definitely never stay again in that hotel.

Among many points of criticism (from checking in to checking out) there are three main issues:

1. The rooms are not properly cleaned at all. Everywhere I found different kind of long hairs - black, blond, brown... This was really disgusting and not at all what you expect in a 5 star hotel. To my surprise there was no water kettle (and of course no tea, no coffee, no sugar, no mugs...) in the room, amazing for an international hotel chain in a european capital. There are many other things to complain about - just to give an example: neither the towels nor the bedlinen have been ironed.

2. Breakfast is a real shame. Although food was ok (but far from outstanding!) the atmosphere is simply annoying. On the way to the "restaurant" you pass a lot of huge empty conference rooms and broad sterile corridors - for then after a long march ending up in a small cage they call "Restaurant Saint Germain". Honestly, you can expect a better atmosphere and a less noisy environment in any McDonald's around the globe. There are not enough tables and seats (some people had even to eat in one of the sterile conference rooms outside the restaurant!!!!), the restaurant is just a ridiculous small room and unbelievably noisy. If you enjoy to have breakfast then you should not book this hotel, it's just a nightmare you pay 28 Euros for. Having breakfast there means to eat as fast as possible and to get out as soon as possible.

3. The third reason that makes this hotel so uncomfortable are the guests (something the hotel can not really be blamed for, but obviously they have a very "special" target group). It's not because of their countries of origin (mainly from Russia and Middle East), it's about their behaviour. They may have enough money to afford to stay in this hotel, but many of them have by far not the appropriate education and manners to behave properly in such a hotel. I saw guests completely drunk in the breakfast room - and drinking even more while having breakfast (Champagne is also offered at the buffet). I saw other guest who more or less did not have their breakfast sitting at their tables: they preferred to eat directly from the buffet. This is also disgusting - but more shocking is that staff was obviously doing nothing against such behaviours.

All in all: I know that there are many much better hotels in Berlin.

Dear netsrac99,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share this detailed feedback on your stay.
I was very sorry to read your experience did not meet your expectations at all.

Thanks for your comment on the housekeeping and the room standard. Your experience
does not reflect our standards at all. I completely understand that you were upset.
Unfortunately we can not correct this now. From our records we have not registered a call
to report this. We would have been pleased to move you to another room. We have quality processes in place in order to ensure the five star standards of the chamber maids.

Regarding the breakfast experience I am pleased that the selection did meet your standard.
The restaurant Saint Germain is located on the first floor and from the elevator you pass indeed a gallery with a selection of pictures of the artist Junior Tonscanelli.

We plan our breakfast according to the potential number of guests who want to have breakfast at the hotel. During the Saturday morning the majority of guests decided to to have a late breakfast. In order to cope we use an extension of the berakfast in a salon which is set up with small tables to ensure a maximum of private atmosphere. I am sorry that you persive the salon as sterile.

We are positioned as a five star superior hotel and we focus on international clients. As a matter of fact we have a grooming policy and guests with a high alcohol level are not permitted to enter the restaurant. The staff is briefed on this and talk to the guest. We have discussed this with the concerned people. The Duty Manager has not been made aware that there were sort of drunken guests at the buffet. Thanks for pointing this out. We already made cation to focus on this point.

We will contact you via private message to discuss the next steps with you.

Best regards,

Carsten Colmorgen
