“Great hotel in perfect location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

Let’s start in the order of the travel 
From the airport Tegel you go with taxi for EUR 20,00 to the hotel. As we didn’t want to bother this price seemed to us quite fair. Anyway I think you can go also with public transportation as there is tram and metro stop directly beside the hotel.

The check-in was without any problem, you just have to be a bit patient as over the days there we recognized the reception is always busy.
We organized via booking.com and there free Wi-Fi was advertised, but this you get just if you fill a membership with the Melia program. This we did and then it was not a problem for free Wi-Fi, anyway I’m not a big fan of these programs and also the promised free bottle of water never arrived in the room (I have to admit we didn’t complain about it)

The room (we booked regular double room) was just perfect! Everything was in nice, bright color – size was really good – room was perfectly clean – TV channels had a good selection – big safe was there – bathroom looked very nice – qualitative excellent interior.
From this point of view and as frequent traveler I can just say – EXCELLENT for a reasonable price.

The breakfast we skipped as the price for us was too high – we need just a coffee and a croissant and there is EUR 24,00 / person / night too much.

As already mentioned at the beginning, public transportation is in directly at the hotel (tram, bus, metro), but it’s not really necessary as you have in walking distance Brandenburger Tor, Aleksander Platz and also for the Spree cruises stops are directly at the hotel.

Overall we were very satisfied and can really recommend the hotel – just one hint, take a room which doesn’t go directly on the Friedrichstraße.

Room Tip: Take a room which is NOT going on the street (Friedrichstraße) - too loud

Stayed at the Melia Berlin for 3 nights in July on a short break to this fascinating city. As a well travelled person who likes to stay in good quality accommodation I would rate this hotel highly. We had a premier room which was spacious, clean and well fitted out. Breakfast was included and was extremely good. The reception and concierge were polite and very helpful. Location? Excellent - could see the top of the Reichstag from our window and with a main train station hub a few hundred yards down the road you are well placed to get around Berlin and Germany for that matter.
Ok, so you have pay a few Euros for good wifi but quite frankly, if money is that tight, stay in a hostel! That said, I think for a hotel to be rated top class you either make good wifi free or build it into the price so the customer thinks he is getting that top class service. Overall, if I came to Berlin again I would stay there again and I thoroughly recommend it.

Room Tip: We had a premier room -big and luxurious!

No kettle to make tea & coffee if you woke early in the morning or late .
The bed covering was too hot.
King size/ 2 singles not very comfortable the ridge hard .a queen would have been better.
Serve at the desk was very helpful and patient.

Melia was an amazing experience. Centrally located and close to all amenities, it truly was a surprise. The staff were friendly and helpful and suggested that we make a small upgrade. Good idea, because breakfast was included and we got to stay on the 7th floor, overlooking the river. The room had a balcony, so we could step out. There were beverages and appertifs included with the upgrade, which began at 6in the evening. The staff serving there were polite and extremely efficient and the breakfast and appertifs were generous. Will definitely go back if I visit Berlin again.

Comfortable hotel in great location. Easy access to airport and transportation around the city. Air conditioning worked well during heat spell. Several reviews mentioned front desk personnel confusion over Rewards perks. I had to ask one clerk to go on the internet to prove tourists get a 15 Euro spending account each night if made reservation on internet during a certain time frame. Also cab was not ordered as requested. When I asked if it had arrived front desk clerk wanted to debate whether we even ordered a cab. Overall a quality stay

We stayed 4 nights at a "level" class room from 24 July.. The booking on the net was flawless.we joined Melia rewards whilst booking and this gave us a credit of Euro 15 per day for use at the hotel.prior to arrival we requested a booking to visit the Reichstag and suggestions for tours.all attended to promptly.
Our check in haws handled very efficient and our room was a delight with a view over the spree river. As we were celebrating an anniversary the management had thoughtfully provided a bottle of champagne

The Melia is a superior hotel in a fabulous location. (The nearby street experiences an increase at night of down-and-out people, but there is no sense of danger.) You can walk to most of the major tourist sites in Berlin from the hotel, and if you need to take public transportation, it is right there. The room was quiet, the air conditioning worked well, and the bed was comfortable. Assuming you get a good price for the room, you would be hard-pressed to find a better place in Berlin.
