We stayed at the Hotel not knowing what to expect. They could not do enough for us as we asked questions and the concierge always gave great recommendations. The service, the rooms the facilities and wow the most fabulous breakfasts.

There was never too much to ask. the staff were always on hand.

I stayed here back in July 2010. This hotel is the place to hang out if you love people watching. I would go the Bar and there was Boris Becker. The gym...Kim Cattrall, the breakfast area....Annie Lennox. Mind you it was Berlin Fashion Week. Also loved it when I went for my morning run, the concierge gave me a bottle of water & towel on my return.

Hotel de Rome was a great base to see the sites for a one week fall vacation in Berlin. Perfectly located we were able to walk to most sites and museums and were easily able to grab a light meal at the various spots around Gendarmenmarkt. Concierge team was fabulous, from arranging for car tour of city, to providing instructions to use the metro, to running down tickets to the Philamornik. Junior suite was perfect for kicking back after a day of tourist activity and staff was appropriately professional. Only draw back - quite expensive breakfasts- much better to hit the streets and go over to Cafe Einstein or Chipps, or even the coffee stand at the food court in the basement of the Galleries Lafayette.

This well-located hotel was the perfect place to spend our weekend. Architecturally the building is stunning. From the moment we arrived at the hotel to our departure, the level of service we received was top-notch. The front doormen, reception staff, bar staff, concierge and housekeeping staff were consistently professional, knowledgeable and sincere with a great all-around attitude.

We did not go to the restaurant nor did we use any of the business facilities but the bar was incredibly comfortable (good atmosphere and fabulous drinks list) and the spa and pool facilities were quite good. The room we stayed in on the 3rd floor was very spacious, the bathroom size, lighting and design were great and the shower had really good water pressure and temperature variation.

I love Rocco Forte hotels and would classify this hotel and experience as 5-star. Very minor shortcomings in comparison to other 5-star hotels would be that the building itself is appearing a little bit tired in places and the quality of the bedding (ie. pillows), the robes and tissues could be improved.

I will refrain from going into detail our actual visit in the city - which was fantastic - as the focus here is on the hotel. I will definitely come back. Good value for money.

The staff forgot to deliver several things (champagne, newspapers) or didn't turn up to mend the safe when they said they would. No ipod docking station or modern music system and just 2 small bottles of water supplied each day - for an expensive and small room with a poor view. Nice breakfast that went on til 2pm. Pool is really a lap pool for one as there is not enough space for more. Overall this hotel is overpriced for what was delivered but it could be easily improved.

Room Tip: Not looking into the courtyard.

This hotel has many pluses lincluding a ver good location and and very attentive and efficient staff. They were extremely helpful with any of our requests. Was a little surprised by the stark and modern look--getting off elevator on second floor reminds you of heading to a business conference room. the rooms themselves are spacious and tasteful. Agree with previous poster that counter space in bathroom is limited, but you get that when you are working with coverted buildings. Restaurant was average. Staff although friendly and helpful, seemed inexperienced and some requests we had to repeat. Overall, a very nice hotel with a slight feel that it is more business oriented.
