It is a nice museum and beautiful memorial. I was however a bit disappointed that they had non information on the handicapped or homosexual prosecutions. The museum was moving but it did feel one sided and I didn't learn anything new.

The maze of concrete blocks that represent the above ground memorial are in themselves interesting in their layout and structure, but the real interest lies in the museum underneath. The museum is free and recalls the history of the holocaust and personal accounts of what happend to complete families. There is a lot of information in various formats (e.g. video, audio, written). We took our teenage children who found it very moving and gave them a greater insight into the atrocities of the war, especially those accounts from the children who died at their same age. A very interesting observation of visiting the museum is the obvious silence (i.e. not even low level chattering) and lack of photography, I suspect out of complete respect to the victims of the holocaust. A very worthwhile visit.

I suppose that it's impossible to adequately represent the suffering that millions of Jews endured during the Nazi era. But this memorial is imposing and stark, cannot be ignored and certainly reminds us that many lives were lost and that many more were, and still are, being affected as a consequence of Nazi genocide.

Conveniently located between Branderbuger Tor and Potsdamer Platz the site is probably best visited late in the day when the afternoon shadows add to the graphic profile of the concrete blocks and add to the evocative nature of the Memorial.

The memorial and museum which is beneath it are both very worthwhile to visit during time in Berlin. The musuem is incredibly moving and contains many personal accounts of peoples experiences of the persecution of Jews during WW2. The memorial is also very good however the atmosphere in it can be ruined by children screaming, shouting and running around and on top of it.

if you're going by any sort of tour at all, Bus, Walking, Segway, you're bound to come here anyway, but if not make the effort - its real close to the Brandendurg Gate in any case, you've no excuse.

Walk out in to the middle and feel how dis-orientating it can be - that's the whole point, and also know that Guering's bunker is underneath this too. It was discovered during construction and after much debate and no alternative site, they decided to carry on and build over the top. Somehow - that feels like the right thing to do.
