I had a great staying in Fjord hotel. It is 10 minutes from potsdamer platz. The small street it is calm and 3 minutes from the main boulevard that leads you to Sony's center where you can ride buses to almost everywhere in the city (great for late hours when the metro is closed). There is clubs in the area and a gastronomic center right after the potsdamer bridge.
I must say that their breakfast was one of the best Ive ever had even comparing to more sofisticated hotels. A complete experience of great staying in Berlin!

All in all the hotel provides an average service and spacious and very clean rooms. The bed was not very comfortable, I found the mattress very tough and the beds were joined together which left an awkard space in the middle, pillows are extremely soft, which I do not like very much. Most of the time, I felt that there was always missing staff there. At breakfast, the hotel was full, and there was only one person to attend everything at the tables and another one to bring food to the buffet. As a result, even though they were really working hard, there were several times when food was missing (and for the price they charge they should a little bit more attentive), tables were dirty and there was a line to seat, in a very confusing process. I do not thing it would hurt the hotel to employ someone else to help. There is no fridge or a/c in the room (so, I can imagine that if you have a hot summer it would be tough), just heating and at my room the windows led to the street directly and I did not feel at easy leaving them open, even though people said it was safe. Although there is no fridge, there was a complimentary bottle of water in the 1st day and only two bottlles of water, that, for me, is not enough. The street is deserted at night and the hotel is at the end of the road. Also, from 11pm till early morning there is absolutely no staff at the hotel, so you have to open the door by yourself (as in a bed and breakfast). In this sense, it would be a nice suggestion to make machines available for guests to buy water, sodas and other things since there is really nothing nearby (and the 1 or 2 shops really close seem to be closed all the time). For a hotel, I found this quite uneasy as well, so I was wondering if something happened at night, guests should be the ones taking care of. There is an emergency phone to contact if something happens, but for me, in a hotel, this is really out of the ordinary. Moreover, even though breakfast is expensive, in particular in Sundays, you have to eat at the hotel since there is nothing nearby open. Markets, pharmacies are only available at the arcade at Podsmar Platz (a 15 minute walk) and most of the shops and services are absolutely closed on Sunday. So, if you need somthing you will have to buy either in the other days (also reminding that they close early) or at the restaurants that are open.
For my business purposes, the location was great, a 10-minute walk, but if you are on vacation, even though public transport is very good I would recommend another place more central to attractions and more lively.

Spent a couple of nights here in winter. Supern value for money. Location is no problem with the excellent public transportation system you find in Berlin. Good breakfast. Nice service. Nice rooms. Highly recommended.

This hotel was great for a short 3 night stay with family. A great refuge after walking around the city all day, it is set in a quiet street in a quiet location. This may put some people off, but it was no more than a 10 minute walk to Potsdamer Platz and the area felt safe with a couple of nurseries in the same street. We used taxis to get back from the centre of town at night for ease and this was very cheap.
The staff at the hotel were very pleasant and helpful, and also spoke English. The conceirge was very helpful in ordering taxis for us when we needed them. The hotel has been recently renovated, and everywhere was extremely clean and presentable. The rooms were comfortable with nice bathrooms, and I can't fault it. I would stay there again.
The breakfast was brilliant too, and I highly recommend paying the fee for this.

Room Tip: Make use of the breakfast - huge selection and range of healthy to breakfast 'treats'!

I've been looking for an Hotel in Berlin, that was central enough, had a good price and with good reviews on Tripadvisor and found this small place. The reservation process was great and the representative gave me also a discount code to use when doing the reservation online!

It's located a 5 minute walk to the subway station Gleisdreieck and the park and 5 minutes walk to Potsdamer platz.

The rooms are very clean and the bed is comfortable and we got also a baby bed for our daughter. There is a small but clean playground which is very convenient for people traveling with children!

I've missed a minibar fridge to put some food overnight for our child and there was only a shower and not a bathtub. I think it's ok, relative to the price I've paid.

I recommend this for people who want to experience Berlin on a budget. It's great and does everything you need!
