“School trip”
Reviewed 2 May 2014 via mobile

I booked this place as part of a residential school trip. I was highly
highly impressed with the level of service and the quality of the food provided. The rooms were basic, but clean and comfortable. Will be using again November 2014 for the same trip.

PS - the coffee is excellent (and free!)

Stayed November 2013, travelled on business

Two of us stayed here for several nights over New Years. Overall it was a good stay with a clean and comfortable room. The not-so-good: WIFI connection is only available in the lobby and common area on the ground floor and was a bit spotty (probably due to so many users), the room locations were a bit spread out as we had to leave the main building to access our room and the located wasn't ideal, but was very close to the metro which can get you anywhere in town. The good: this hostel supplied a fantastic breakfast with many options to choose from, the staff were very friendly and spoke excellent english, nearby some restaurants and grocery store, and overall was very quiet which was appreciated!

We stayed here during a fieldtrip to Berlin and the service was excellent. The lobby and communial areas were clean and had several vending machines as well as comfy seats. The continental breakfast in the morning was lovely and it did vary slightly everyday. The clientele at breakfast seemed to be predominantly students, with some families and independent travelers.
The rooms were clean and the shower in our en suite was superb. I slept well every night, but some did not, I think it mainly depends to personal tastes. I can't comment on the price as it was included in our booking, but it was ideal for our needs as a place to crash after a long day of history work.
It isn't directly in the centre of Berlin, but you can get the u-bahn to the zoo and then the 100/200 bus into the centre for less than seven euros (that's for unlimited travel during the day). I personally could not fault it.

It is confusing that they name the place as a hotel which is definitely not. Aletto Kreuzberg is a good and cheap hostel with a good connection to the centre of Berlin (metro stop is 5 minutes away).
We booked a room for two - the room had six beds in it with a bathroom and a separate toilet. Obviously, couldn't complained about small space. Disappointing was that we got two separates beds that we had to pulled together. There's no AC in the room which was horrible that time - we had to open all windows and listen to noises outside. WiFi is available in the common areas, breakfast was not too bad - I just missed some vegetables and fruits. I do recommend the hostel if you want to find a cheap place in Berlin.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms with windows on the patio - it is really noisy there all the time.

We booked this place for a long weekend in Berlin, knowing it was cheap and cheerful and therefore not expecting 5 star accommodation. We had specifically asked for a double bed rather than twin beds when we booked as this option was given on the website, however when we arrived the room we were given had two twin beds pushed together but there was a gap of around 3 inches between the beds, due to the wooden surround. We returned to reception and questioned the lack of a double bed and we were given another room... which was half the size and more dingy than the original room but also had just twin beds pushed together with a large gap in the middle. Another trip to reception to be told they don't actually have any double beds in any of their rooms so we went back to the original room which was larger and more airy.

The room was very clean and apart from the lack of a decent bed for two was comfortable and bright with lots of windows. It was however very noisy. Despite the notices stating that between 10pm and 6am is quiet time this seems to be completely ignored by most of those staying. We had read about this quiet time policy before booking and would not have booked had we realised this policy wasn't really enforced. Our first night I had very little sleep due to constant shouting, loud talking and running up and down corridors which went on until around 4am and then started again at about 6am!

The following two nights we had to sleep with the windows closed (despite it being hot weather), so that some of the noise was muted. At one point we had to ask a group of lads to quieten down after they were stood right outside our door shouting and making much noise, thankfully they moved to another area and were very quiet and respectful after that.

The breakfast is very good considering it's included in the price you pay for the rooms but the breakfast room can get very crowded and you may not find a table to sit at, we found getting there before 8am to be best. If you are looking for a quiet place to stay with a double bed this isn't for you, but if you don't mind a noisy teenage filled atmosphere or can sleep through any kind of racket, it is situated in an ideal location to get to the centre or around the city by U-bahn.

Room Tip: Don't book here if you need a double bed
