Spent 5 days in Berlin, had dinner 4 times in the kreuzberg area which was cheap and very good, and 1 time here in the touristic heart. It was not only the most expensive but also the most dissapointing: unfriendly staff that asked for a tip, average and overpriced food.

Thank Job H

This is a bit of tourist place, but don't let that put you off. The Bavarian food is good, with large portions. The star here is the Weihenstephaner beer, which is among the best of German brews. Outside seating, when the weather is warm, is great for people-watching.

Definitely one for the tourists! Blue and white checked table cloths and the waiters are in lederhosen serving steiners of German beer. The food really is fantastic though, proper Bavarian style comfort food.

The selection of sausages was great and the hot pot was tasty but more like a broth than what I’d recognise as a hotpot. If you have any room left the apple strudel is also very nice.

I have been there 3 times and I thought the food there is hit and miss. The sausage platter is pretty good, although portion is on the smaller side. The pork dishes are alright, but not exceptional. I have had better traditional German dishes elsewhere though. This last time I was there, the pork dish was quite dry and tasteless however so I am not sure if I would go back there again. This place is billed as the oldest brewery in the world, so they are probably more known about their beers then food. Great location and ambiance though.
