Dennis is an amazing tour guide. He is a student of history and a local Berliner. He provides factual information about Berlin in a way that makes you feel you are not being lectured to and intertwines humor and personal stories throughout. His story about his Grandfather's internment as a prisoner of war in Siberia and his own sausage story are the two which stick in my memory the most.

The tour is extensive and the 5+ hours fly by. I wasn't expecting to be given so much information about the history of Berlin or so many sights of Berlin and I just wanted more. I would definitely do more of their tours!

Myself and my friend (both 19 years old) visited Berlin as a girly weekend away and decided to do the Berlin Walks guided tour around Berlin. Dennis was our tour guide and he was so clearly passionate about the history he was talking about that it was just inspiring- he gave amazing insight into history we didn't fully know about. The walk itself is very long so wear comfortable shoes and take a drink with you (there is a break) but it's a definite must!! Thank you so much for this incredible experience!

We rarely take guided city walks because of the great fear they will turn into mind-numbing history lessons which all roll into one great mish-mash when it's all over. We found an exception in Philippa during the four-hour Discover Berlin Walk. Don't get me wrong, there were plenty of interesting facts and figures, but Philippa, who is eminently qualified to provide the information, punctuated her address with humour, anecdotes and a delivery which was lively and entertaining.
It was the best 24 euros (12 euros each) we spent in getting a handle on a city's history. Philippa interacted brilliantly with a party of 30 people and she wasn't flummoxed or flustered by any questions which came her way. It was a great four hours. Thanks Philippa. Ray and Leonie Wilson

Our tour guide to Sachsenhausen, Lorna, was highly knowledgable. The topic is not an easy one to discuss, but she did it with poise and an academic backing that allowed us to grasp the complexity. She answered all questions, and when I asked for where to get further info, she easily recommended some sources. One of the most knowledgable tour guides I have had on any tour. Highly recommend this tour.

This was our first walking tour ever. Luckily we had Emily as our Guide. We had booked the 4 hour walking tour around Berlin. Emily has an archaeology degree and her passion and enthusiasm for her city and its history and buildings was really brought to life. We discovered lots of things we probably wouldn't have read about in history books (because we don't have the time) and Emily made all these things sound really interesting and made us want to learn more.

We stopped at the Brandenburg Gate, the Humboldt Museum (where Einstein was a Professor), we saw the memorial to the bookburning there. Emily also took us to the site of Hitler's bunker, the Jewish Memorial and to Checkpoint Charlie. Part of the tour also included the House of Ministries and the site of the Tophography of Terror. We ended our tour at the Concert House and Emily also pointed out a lovely chocolate shop which we visited after the tour. We also made our way back to the Topography of Terror and spent a couple of hours at the free museum there.

Halfway through the tour, at the Jewish Memorial, we stopped for refreshments. It was only a 20 minute break so we could wander around the Memorial, or come back and visit it later, having grabbed a bite to eat. As we had been on the tour for approximately 2 1/2 hrs, it made sense to eat something. Emily pointed out the nearest shops were tourists shops and she was going to eat at a local bakery around the corner. The most savvy of us followed Emily and we enjoyed eating at the local bakery and trying out our schoolgirl German!

My husband and I would like to give a big Scottish thank you to Emily. She certainly opened our eyes to what a marvellous city Berlin is now, with its beautiful buildings, museums and palaces. We will certainly come back and visit again.
