Just got back from Berlin. There were 6 of us and we booked a Segway tour in advance.
I would thoroughly recommend (If you can stand on 2 feet) you do the same to find your way around the city. Our guide Walid was very attentative and reassuring in our 30 minute training exercise. The Segway is really easy to master.
Walid soon worked out that although we wanted to see the sights and learn a little we were there to have a few laughs. The next 3 hours turned out to be the making of our weekend and we will always have fond memories of Walid and his little anecdotes. We came away having seen all the stunning architecture and important sights Berlin has to offer, thoroughly more educated than when we arrived. This again was all thanks to Walid and the way he explained everything in a simple and sometimes humorous if not Hilarious manner. We totally enjoyed the whole experience and would definitely do it again. The following day we hired bikes from fat tire which was also a good safe way to get around (although we did miss our little friend Walid a bit).
We also did the open top bus tour on the Friday which does not compare to the experience you will have on a Segway.
MY RECOMMENDATION WOULD BE DO THE SEGWAY TOUR AS EARLY AS YOU CAN ON YOUR BREAK. Then hire bikes for the rest of your visit.

we participated in a bike tour with Julien in April 2014. It was a fun afternoon and he was a kind and thoughtful guide. The tour however felt at times like a cookie-cutter info sharing. there was little depth to the info shared and often it was what I had read in a guidebook already. I have participated in other bike tours (Munich) where the guide added historical facts that were lesser known. the Tiergarten stop is lovely- food was tasty. I would have liked to feel less like "another tourist going through the Fat Tire Bike Tour machine"..

Berlin City Tour - We had been on the Fat Tire Tour back in 2004 and had loved it, so upon our return to Berlin some ten years later the first thing we wanted to do was get on the tour again.

We were of course a little sceptical as to whether or not the tour would be as good as we remembered. We need not have worried. The group size was perfect, our guide Ramin was funny, engaging, obviously passionate about his tour, very knowledgable and a really likeable guy.

The tour took in all of the main tourist sites and some that we would never have known about unless Ramin had shown us - who knew there was a watch tower still standing in the city? The stop off at the beer garden was an ideal opportunity for our group to chat and get to know one another better and it really was nice to chat and relax for a while - with a beer as well of course!

We can't recommend the Berlin City Tour highly enough, really I know it's a cliche but it is a 'must do' whilst you are here. Go on the tour early in your holiday and once you have seen the city through the eyes of your guide, decide what you would like to do for the rest of your stay.

Thanks for another great tour, see you again soon hopefully, Dave & Jenny (team Leeds).

Read the reviews so thought I'd try it. Just a brilliant day. Do it!

Great fun, good value. The bikes are really easy and guides are extremely well informed and genuinely good fun to hang out with.

We had a great mixed group led by the super-well-informed (self-confessed-nerd) Brian. We spent the day (11-5) riding around the whole city - not only did I see the sights but I learned a huge amount about European history. Also stopped for a late lunch at the Tiergarden which was great.

I truly recommend.

I'm investigating doing another tour when we visit Barcelona later this month.

We have just been on the Cold War bike tour today, Our tour guide was Kate, and she was excellent. She was very knowledgeable and presented the facts and interesting anecdotes in a very entertaining way. The bike ride wasn't difficult and Kate guided us very well. We had lunch at a Lebonese restaurant where the food was inexpensive, authentic and very tasty. All in all a very enjoyable experience. The price was 18 euros wth a Berlin card - very reasonable. Would highly recommend,
