“Wow!”
Reviewed 11 October 2010

Upon arrival we were upgraded to a 1 bedroom which was HUGE! It was a very quiet room at the end of the hallway. The room was very nice and had a full kitchen (which we did not use) and a separate bedroom and bathroom. The staff was very friendly and held our luggage at the desk as we had a later flight out of Berlin. It’s about a 5 minute walk from two U-Bahn stations and close to Checkpoint Charlie. The restaurant downstairs was great for dinner. Also we did not know it at the time we booked, but there is a washer/dryer in the room that is free to use (there is a charge for detergent unless you bring some).

We will be sure to check out other Adina Apartment Hotels when we travel and would recommend staying here while in Berlin.

My wife and myself stayed for three nights in the Adina and I would have to say it was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The staff were extremely friendly, the food was superb. The buffet breakfast was a feast. They also done a happy hour where drinks were half price, this was a very nice touch. It was really easy to get public transport from the hotel, the nearest bus was approx a two minute walk away. The room was super, I should say the rooms as we had a kitchen, dining and sitting area in one room, and a seperate bathroom and bedroom. If there was any problem I would put it that they could have provided better directions on the internet to the hotel from the airports. Public transport is really good value so we got a combination of train and underground to the hotel, the only problem was we were close to the hotel and didn't know it. A few hours of using the transport and it was easy to understand. We purchased a 72 hour pass at the airport for two people which worked out approx the price as the taxi to he city, yet we had unlimited travel for the rest of our stay, it also gave us discounts into a number of attractions. Hotel excellent.

The hotel and staff were very accomidating. We were able to walk or bike (rented from the hotel) to all the sites we were interested in (major tourist sites). We felt very safe walking to and from the hotel at night. I wish the wi-fi had been free but a computer was provided for guests in an alcove of the lobby and there was never a wait to use it.

As the name indicates, it's near one of Berlin's busiest tourist sites, but not too close for comfort. It's on a quiet block a good walk away from Checkpoint Charlie. U-bahn stations are also a few blocks away.

Rooms are clean and roomy with room to prepare meals if you like. Some of the larger ones have the very convenient feature of a washer and dryer. Very comfortable bed. Blackout curtains are useful for those seeking a jetlag-fighting daytime nap or a long rest after a late Berlin night.

Wi-fi prices are steep compared to a corner Internet kiosk, but not out of line with a business hotel. Service was usually fast and reliable, and when it wasn't, the staff offered a refund of charges. The front desk staff was friendly and effective, with exactly one exception. Restaurant, lobby and a small outdoor courtyard were all comfortable. Didn't make it to the pool, but the robed guests leaving it seemed happy.

I slept in the hotel for 5 nights in September 2010. The rooms are big with a fully equipped kitchen (you can cook whatever you like), there is a supermarket nearby (2 min walk). There is a living room and a sleeping room both has a flat TV. The hotel is located 5-7 minutes’ walk from the nearest U-station (U2). Breakfast is OK.
The Bad (tough small ones): In one of the nights they forgot to put new toilet paper !?. They charge 2.5EUR for using Tea and Coffee in the room, I would expect to receive it for free.

The most important quality of a hotel room is that it should actually be available once you have booked it. Despite booking several weeks in advance, when we arrived tired after a long drive through Poland and Germany, we were told-no room available. The staff attitude was indifferent to say the least. They said they couldn't contact me, but they certainly had my email address and I received no email. It really seemed as if overbooking was not an unusual occurence, from the casual way we were treated. We were redirected to their other hotel near the station. Although this hotel was very nice it wasn't in the area we wanted to be, and the whole episode ruined the experience for us. It doesn't matter how clean and well appointed a hotel is if you can't actually stay there. I have certainly lost confidence in this chain of hotels and would avoid it in future.
