Owner description: Friedrich the Great's amazing 18th-century palace, reminiscent of the grandeur of Versailles, is surrounded by a magnificent 600-acre park.

Let me begin with saying that it's definitly worth the visit though bring you walking shoes and a lot blister bandages.
It's best to visit this place in 2 days, 2 sunny and warm days, best in the end of spring or early summer. You can spend hours walking leasurely in the gigantic garden of sanssouci and Charlottenhof, Potsdam's hidden gem (though currently the castle itself is closed).
You'll have to make sure you have a lot of time when you visit sanssouci and it's surroundings. The interior of the palaces and extra buildings are worth a visit. Only one, no more!
And beware, that if you're gonna visit the interior, you do it in a single day!
Also think about buying the picture-ticket... it's your choice, you can buy the ticket for ? 3,00 and take your own pictures or buy the books ( ?10,00 / book)

The gardens were only just starting to come away and so too early to enjoy the grounds, the Palace is nice but was a bit of an anti climax

I was there when it was veeery hot, which I wouldn't recommend as you don't have that much strength then and the grounds are very big so you should have some strength.
Well, I walked through the palace with an audioguide which I would recommend, as the palace inside is otherwise boring. You learn a lot. It is not a big palace, but you should have seen it.
The park is great: Big, green, colourful, fountains, with nice views...Take lots of photos. But there is also a lot of empty space too, which you have to cross.

There are other palaces where you don't have to line up so long and you don't have to take the really boring, misleading tour. The New Chambers palace is right beside Sanssoucci and it is just as beautiful with no line ups. Also the staff at the ticket office in Sanssoucci are really rude...it is like the wall never came down...

This lovely, teeny palace is well-worth the inconvenience of travel with a pack of people listening to audioguides. The guides are interesting, and the docents you move along as soon as you've finished the reading for the room you're in. There are treasures in every room, and lots of surprises, like the parrots in the last room! Plus the park is wonderful!
