“Great Gardens to See”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 July 2014

Was here with a tour group. The gardens are superb! Building is pushing 100 years old and some parts of it look it. The audio guide was very informative. Lots of history to take in. Research the Conference before you go and you'll get a lot more out of it. The only ripoff was the staff charges you to take pictures. That is the only thing stopping me from giving this an Excellent rating.

“Very informative audio guide”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2014

Wonderful to tour this beautiful palace with an english audio guide and te events around the famous potsdam treaty. You can see the room where Churchill Stalin and Roosevelt signed the treaty and hear the diary accounts of the English secretary that accompanied Churchill and his party. Absolutely fascinating. Finish off with a beer at the Brewery pub 5 minutes away on the lake.

“Terrific glimpse of interesting modern history.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014 via mobile

Schloss Cecilienhof is a small Tudor-influenced palace built in the 1910s so does not have a long history. However it gives us a glimpse of recent German history. The home of the last Crown Prince of Germany and lived in by his family until just before the fall of Berlin, the palace survived unscathed so became the venue for the final meeting of the Allied triumvirate. The audio tour commentary focuses on the "Berlin Conference" but also how the Crown Prince and his family used each room. Unfortunately only the ground floor is open to the general public. The Princess's garden is pretty with views of the Jungfernsee in the distance. The surrounding parkland is good for a ramble or cycle, offering lake views, formal gardens and grasslands. Worth a visit as part of a tour of Potsdam palaces.

“Good but not great”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 June 2014

Cecilienhof is a picturesque, typically German-looking house, except larger. There's a sculpted flowerbed inside, which is good for a photo or two. The audio tour itself was OK, nothing to write home about, you would have to be interested in the history of the Potsdam Conference and World War II to enjoy it.

Be sure to combine it with a visit to the rest of the gardens - they are spectacular.

“short visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 June 2014

This is a small place. You have to pay to get in and you get a taped tour. You won't have to pay to see the grounds. If you are interested in history of it, it is worthwhile , otherwise , it is no all that glamorous as sansouci.
